Read more for all the details on how to make Halloween Muddie Buddies.
Halloween is Saturday and it looks much different than last year’s! Muddie Buddies (also known as puppy chow) aren’t only a snack for Halloween so you can easily create a version for any holiday or occasion. They are easily customizable so you can make them for any holiday using your favourite sweet and salty snacks. Just make sure to keep the base of powdered sugar and Chex mix cereal.
My friend, Heidi also made a Christmas-inspired Muddie Buddies recipe, click here!
In my opinion, the perfect snack mix since it’s got everything! You could also make it as a party mix and just put it in the living room and you’ll be surprised about how fast the bowl empties!
Have a movie night and make some or if you’re spending the night with kids, have them make their own mixture! I’ll be doing a Halloween movie marathon and munching on my mix!

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE HALLOWEEN MUDDIE BUDDIES:
Where can I find ingredients?
Any grocery store should have these products! You can also swing by the dollar store and check and see what snacks you can use!
What are the ingredients?
Measure with your heart (and your stomach too haha)
-Chex Cereal (I chose chocolate but I believe there are honey and cinnamon flavours too)
-Powdered/Icing Sugar
-2-4 Salty Crunchy Snacks (I chose salted peanuts and pretzels)
-2-4 Sweet Soft/Crunchy Snacks (I chose candy corn, pumpkin gummies, Reese’s pieces and Reese’s mini’s)
Optional: melted peanut butter, chocolate or caramel syrup (I didn’t put any syrups as it would be too sweet for me!)

How can I make this?
First, I like to get a big mixing bowl and add in a decent amount of Chex as it’s the main ingredient for me! Once you’re happy with your Chex amount, minus ones that you’ve nibbled on, slowly add in some powdered sugar. I say slowly as I’m trying to lessen my sugar intake but if you’ve got a big sweet tooth then go for it and add as much as you’d like!
Once it looks like every piece of cereal is well combined, you can start adding your salty snacks! I know we all say we want our mix equal but sometimes we secretly want a little more of something else. This is the time you can favour one snack over the other haha!
Last but not least, add in your sweets! Mix everything together gently so none of the pieces break. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days to seal in freshness but let’s be honest mine doesn’t last 2 days!
Now, grab a cozy warm drink, pick a movie, get a blanket, and prop your feet up! You deserve a break so enjoy!
Xo,
Lynn
