Happy National Grilled Cheese Day!
The key to the most Perfect Grilled Cheese is the amount of butter…
I know, I know, you’re probably thinking ” Lynn, you are going to make my pants not fit me anymore” That is definitely NOT the goal but balance is key. I have a salad for lunch everyday and for dinner probably 4-5 times a week but this helps me in consuming what I want, how I want it. When I treat myself to pizza, grilled cheese, burgers etc. I definitely do not skimp on it!
Enjoy your meals so you’ll have no regrets. I’ve come to love salads but a grilled cheese and tomato soup is what your mind and body needs sometimes.

I have to admit, I haven’t had a classic grilled cheese is SOOO long so I was really excited to find out about National Grilled Cheese day. I believe it is an American day but I’m celebrating anything I can!
Do you like a good old classic grilled cheese? OR do you add some things in it?! I’d love to know in the comments below!
HERE IS HOW TO MAKE Perfect Grilled Cheese:
Where can I find these ingredients?
Anywhere and everywhere! I think grilled cheese is specific to your liking so whether you make it with white, whole wheat, sourdough bread or cheddar, mozzarella, swiss cheese, make it perfect for you! I picked up a fresh sunflower seed sourdough bread when I made this from my local bakery and I’ve never bought this bread before. I normally just do a grilled cheese with multigrain bread. I love swiss cheese and it’s probably my favorite but I did cheddar and mozzarella for this one!
My super not-so secret ingredient is garlic butter!! A 100% must as your grilled cheese becomes part garlic bread which is amazing!
What are the ingredients?
- Bread of choice – I used Sunflower Seed Sourdough
- Cheese of choice – I used cheddar and mozzarella
- Garlic Butter – crushed clove of garlic, a pinch of salt and butter in the microwave for 30 secs will do!
- Optional – parsley garnish if serving
Can I sub anything out?
Absolutely! You can make this vegan if that is your lifestyle. Vegan butter, cheese and bread! If you have no ingredient restrictions, just use your favorite cheese and bread! If you don’t like garlic, regular butter will do. If you don’t like butter, mayo works as well! Mayo will give you a super nice crust.
What does it taste like?
Buttery and cheesy goodness! A grilled cheese is a classic staple in many many households! Super easy and satisfying if you’re looking for a homemade decadent meal! A lot of people will dip their grilled cheese in ketchup or have a tomato soup with it! I love a nice roasted tomato basil soup!
Any other notes?
The tip to getting the best cheese pull is toasting it low and slow on the stove top as well as covering it so the heat stays in the pan! You can also put it in the toaster oven as well!

Yum, yum, yum! Nothing I like better than grilled cheese, though I don’t have it much since I have gone gluten free to help my IBS be less of a pain in the tummy. I do cheat sometimes though, so I might have to have me a grilled cheese soon! Thanks for these tips–garlic butter–because I didn’t know that and it sounds amazing!

You are making me starve over here!! This sandwich looks and sounds delectable, and the butter is definitely key. Covering the grilling sandwich with a pot lid is also an awesome way to get the cheese to melt without scorching the bread. Love that you use sourdough: my favorite kind of bread.
Thanks for sharing!
Sourdough is my fav too! Thank you so much for reading! x

Yum! Grilled cheese is seriously the best! I have recently started making mine in the air fryer and it is a total game changer. I hate that I always end up burning one side when I cook them on the stove, so this has made a huge difference. My daughter didn’t used to like grilled cheese, but she loves it when I make it in the air fryer!
Yes! I love using my air fryer!! So obsessed with it! Thank you so much for reading! x

We love cheese in our household and always have lots of different varieties. My heart belongs to cheddar but when we’re making a grilled toastie we throw anything in that will melt. Great tip about garlic butter, we’ll try that next time, thank you! x
Yum! I love cheddar as well. Thank you so much for reading! x
I’ve taken up alot more time for creative dinners, and though we don’t have it often grilled cheese is adored in our house. I don’t know how I never thought to add garlic butter, that sounds amazing?. We usually just eat the sandwich plain, but sometimes I have add tomato, ham, spinach, onion, or pizza sauce and make it a mountain pie.
