Okay, I make a turkey once a year and that’s on Canadian Thanksgiving. I absolutely love turkey and can eat Thanksgiving leftovers for a whole week straight but it is most definitely A LOT of work!
I use the same blend of seasonings for my turkey every year and it is always a hit! My turkey always comes out so flavourful and moist and everyone asks me how I do it!
I thought instead of sharing my turkey recipe, I’d share the same seasonings on a whole chicken and just as I’d imagine, it tasted amazing. I also make a Tiktok video on the steps I took to make this so be sure to watch it!

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE ROASTED TURKEY STYLE SEASONED CHICKEN:
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make this delicious roasted turkey style seasoned chicken is super simple and chances are you already have it at all! I bought a whole chicken from the grocery store that was already cut up but you can definitely use any part of the chicken you’d like. This would also make very yummy chicken wings!
All of the spices and seasonings are pretty basic so you may use them daily already in your kitchen but if not, everything is dried and will be available in your local seasonings aisle at the grocery store.
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make this amazing Roasted Turkey Style Seasoned Chicken are:
- One Whole Chicken
- 2 Sticks Unsalted Butter Crumbles
- 1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Tbsp Onion Powder
- 1 Tbsp Parsley Leaves
- 1/2 Tbsp Rosemary Leaves
- 1 Tbsp Chicken Bouillon Powder
- 1/2 Tbsp Seasoning Salt
- 1 Tbsp Thyme
The chicken is yummy as it is with any sides that you’d like to eat BUT I usually do an assortment of veggies in the pan with olive oil before placing the chicken on top to bake! Here’s what I usually put in:
- Potatoes (Optional)
- Carrots (Optional)
- Celery (Optional)
- Onion(Optional)
- Garlic (Optional)
WHAT IS THE TIME BREAKDOWN TO MAKE THIS RECIPE?
I would cook this chicken the same amount of time that you normally chicken! The time breakdown for this Roasted Turkey Style Seasoned Chicken recipe is
To Prepare – and combine all the seasonings into a bowl and chop veggies
Time: 10 Minutes
To Coat – chicken with the seasonings and place in a baking dish then top with butter crumbles
Time: 10 Minutes
To Bake – chicken until it is fully cooked and reaches an internal temperature of 165F
Time: 45-55 Minutes
Total time: 1 Hour and 15 Minutes
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
You don’t need a ton of equipment to make this dish! You most likely already have everything you need as this is a regular everyday roasted chicken dish. You can absolutely bake it in the oven or even use an air fryer. I cook chicken both ways and love them both! For me, it’s just my preference on the day that I cook!
I recommend using 2 small bowls to combine all the seasonings and butter crumbles separately. You also need a good baking dish and that’s pretty much it!
CAN I SUB/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
For me, this combination of seasonings always reminds me of turkey. I don’t know if this is the same for everyone but for as long as I can remember, probably from the very first time I cooked a turkey, I’ve made it with this blend of seasonings.
I’ve recommended this to my vegetarian and vegan friends and to use the blend of seasonings and substitute the chicken and butter for alternatives such as tofu and vegan butter! This would also be really yummy as a blend of roasted vegetables too!
It’s perfect as it is but as always on my platform, I encourage everyone to taste as they go and tailor it to your preference! My recipes are guides for everyone to feel more comfortable in the kitchen!
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
Like any chicken or meat dish, store it in the fridge once it’s fully cooled in an airtight container for up to 2-3 days. You can additionally store it in the freezer if you plan to eat it at a later time for up to 2 weeks!
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS DISH?
My favourite holiday EVER is Thanksgiving and I always look forward to doing a huge Thanksgiving feast for my family. I always handle the turkey and I get compliments all the time! We only really do turkey in our household on Thanksgiving so I wanted to experiment with the same seasoning blend I use on chicken and it is amazing!
ANY OTHER NOTES?
No other notes for this one! It’s the perfect dish to have when you’re hosting guests over for a dinner party. it tastes amazing and it will most definitely impress your guests for the night!
Freezing the butter for 10-20 minutes before grating will make your life a lot easier! I suggest doing that if you can.
I would serve this with some roasted potatoes, mashed potatoes, wild rice, seasoned vegetables or any sides that you prefer! This dish goes really well with anything really.
Roasted Turkey Style Seasoned Chicken
Ingredients
- 1 Whole Chicken
- 2 Sticks Unsalted Butter in small cubes
- 1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Tbsp Onion Powder
- 1 Tbsp Dried Parsley Leaves
- 1/2 Tbsp Rosemary
- 1 Tbsp Thyme
- 1 Tbsp Chicken Bouillon Powder
- 1/2 Tbsp Seasoning Salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375F, prepare a baking dish and place your chicken down.
- In a small bowl, add in all your seasonings and mix well together. In another small bowl grate or chop your butter up into small cubes.
- Rub the seasoning blend on all of the pieces of chicken really well so everything is fully coated.
- Bake the chicken in the oven for 55 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperate of 165F.
- Serve and enjoy!
