We are back with another food inspired by TV shows or Movies series! I test out a recipe inspired by a movie or TV show and try and make it exactly how I feel the character would make it or just in the spirit of the vibe I get from the TV and movie!
Of course for spooky season and Halloween month, I had to take an ode to my most FAVOURITE Halloween movie ever and that’s Halloweentown!
I religiously watch family-friendly Halloween movies every year as 1) I’m a wuss and can’t do horror films 2) because it’s so nostalgic to me! Halloweentown is a movie that I adore along with the entire collection of movies and I will never ever get tired of watching it!
Have you watched Halloweentown before? Which one from movies 1-4 is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below!

So, what recipes were in the first Halloweentown movie you might be thinking. They didn’t particularly showcase a recipe or food but if you watched the first 10-15 minutes of the movie. Sophie, the little sister to the main character Marnie has no idea that she has witch powers.
It’s dinner time and she wants to have a cookie beforehand. Her mother tells her no but she keeps thinking and chanting how much she wants a cookie. The cookie floats up off the plate and starts moving towards her when her mom snatches it and stuffs it in her mouth
Watch the part in Halloweentown where this happens:
Now, I totally get the feeling of deeply wanting a cookie and I wanted to make a recipe to symbolize how good this cookie must’ve been! I thought that only a Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Chip Cookie could do this movie justice!
This Halloweentown Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe will be accompanied by a YouTube Tutorial. If you haven’t subscribed to my channel on YouTube, don’t forget to! The video will publish on the weekend!
Have you ever tried a pumpkin spice chocolate chip cookie?
HERE IS HOW TO MAKE HALLOWEENTOWN’S PUMPKIN SPICE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES:
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make these delicious pumpkin spice chocolate chip cookies can be found in your local grocery store! If you love baking, you’ll find most of these ingredients already in your home. Pumpkin spice and pumpkin puree are non-perishable items so they can easily be found online if you’re unable to find them at the store!
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make Halloweentown’s Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Chip Cookies are:
- All-purpose Flour
- Brown Sugar
- White Sugar
- Eggs
- Pumpkin Spice
- Vanilla Extract
- Pumpkin Puree
- Baking Soda
- Melted Unsalted Butter
- Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
WHAT TYPE OF PUMPKIN PUREE SHOULD I USE?
So, I’ve only really seen two types of canned pumpkin. One is pure pumpkin puree and one is pumpkin pie filling. Pumpkin pie filling has pumpkin spice and sugar in it while pure pumpkin puree doesn’t. I love using pure pumpkin puree as I like to control the sweetness and spices. If you can’t find pumpkin spice or just want to have fewer ingredients then pumpkin pie filling is fine. Just maybe watch the amount of white and brown sugar you put so it’s not painfully sweet!
WHAT IS THE TIME BREAKDOWN TO MAKE THIS RECIPE?
The time breakdown to make these pumpkin spice chocolate chip cookies is pretty quick. The only thing is that the batter is quite sticky so I usually put the dough in the freezer for 20-30 minutes but other than that, putting the dough together takes about 10-15 minutes and bake time is really fast too. The full breakdown is:
To Prepare– this includes measuring out all your ingredients
Time: 5 Minutes
To Assemble – this includes making the dough and putting all the ingredients into a bowl
Time: 15 Minutes
To Chill – this includes chilling in the freezer for the dough to harden a bit
Time: 20-30 Minutes
To Bake – this includes scooping out the cookie dough and baking in the oven
Time: 13-15 Minutes
To Cool – this includes taking the cookies out of the oven and placing it on a cooling rack
Time: 10 Minutes
Total time from start to finish: 1 hour and 15 minutes
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
To bake these awesome pumpkin spice chocolate chip cookies, you really do not need much. You’ll need your obvious equipment like mixing bowls, a spatula, parchment paper and baking sheets then you can have your optional equipment such as a cookie scooper and cooling rack.
Here are some of my favourite baking equipment:
WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO PREPARE?
These pumpkin chocolate chip cookies are similar to our beloved chocolate chip cookie recipe and super easy to prepare! The steps to make s are:
- Prepare – and measure all the ingredients
- Assemble – the dough in a mixing bowl by combining everything together
- Chill – in the freezer to let the dough harden a bit for about 20-30 minutes
- Bake – in the oven for about 13-15 minutes or until golden brown
- Cool – on a cooling rack for about 10 minutes
- Serve – and enjoy!
CAN I SUB/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
Honestly, this chocolate chip recipe is just a standard chocolate chip recipe. I love my cookies really dense and heavy almost with a cake texture but if you have a chocolate chip cookie recipe that you know and love, feel free to use that and just add in the pumpkin puree and spice!
Other than that, there really isn’t much you can do with this recipe! It’s super easy and unproblematic!
WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?
If I’m being completely and totally honest, when I first thought of this, I thought it would be terrible! I can’t stand incredibly sweet desserts so this seemed like something I wouldn’t like BUT it is so good! I couldn’t believe the two flavours come together really well.
The pumpkin puree is not noticeable at all but it makes the cookie incredibly moist. The pumpkin spice just elevates the cookie ever so slightly so you can taste hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and all the other seasonings that make up pumpkin spice!
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
These pumpkin spice chocolate chip cookies keep for a while as long as you store them in a good airtight container. When I first pulled out these cookies, they were on the firmer side but surprisingly after leaving them on the counter for a few hours, they became moister!
I love pumpkin puree in baked goods for this reason! You can keep it on the countertop for about 3-4 days and in the fridge for 7 days if they even last that long!

INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS DISH?
Halloweentown is seriously the heart of my Halloween spirit! If you have been a fan of the blog, you know what much I believe in the magic of life. I know it sounds crazy but I truly believe that life is too short to not make little moments feel magical.
I thought of what embodies Halloweentown and it’s the town pumpkin! If you haven’t watched it, you’ve got to ASAP! It’s on Disney+ and you definitely can find a way to watch it online too as it’s an older movie now.
Halloween is all about pumpkins and what better than to combine a classic chocolate chip recipe and elevate it with pumpkin spice, the official Fall flavour!
