HERE IS HOW TO MAKE MINI HEART SHAPED CHERRY PIES:
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
This recipe is only 3 ingredients and super easy to find! You’ll need some pre made or frozen pie crust which is available at many grocery stores now, some cherry pie filling which you can get in the baking section of your grocery store and some powdered sugar for some extra sweetness on top!
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make these delicious mini heart shaped cherry pies are:
- Frozen/pre-made Pie Crust
- Cherry Pie Filling
- Powdered/Icing Sugar
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
You don’t need a lot of equipment to make this! We love easy recipes here! You’ll need all your regular baking equipment but the only thing you may not have is heart shaped cookie cutters! Generally around Valentine’s day, you can get them at your local dollar store but you can also purchase them off Amazon like I did!
Here are some of my Amazon kitchen favs!
CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
Since this recipe is meant to be super simple, it only has 3 ingredients so there isn’t much to change in this recipe however, here are some ideas if you want to spruce it up!
- Using any kind of pie filling! I also love making 3 Ingredient Blueberry Hand Pies
- Adding some cream cheese like these Apple Cream Cheese Hand Pies
- Adding some custard or sauce!
- Adding some chopped nuts, dried fruits or chocolate chips
WHAT DO MINI HEART SHAPED CHERRY PIES TASTE LIKE?
If you love cherry pies, you’ll love these! It’s your standard cherry pie but easy and mess free! You know when you have a big pie and you need to get a knife to cut a slice, a plate to place it on and need utensils to eat it? Well, these flaky, buttery, tart and sweet mini cherry pies eliminates all that! You can just grab and eat whenever you’d like!
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
These cherry pies are good to keep in an airtight container for 5 days. If you’re looking to be just a touch fancy, you can also heat them up and have some ice cream on the side! YUM warm pie and ice cream is one of my favourite desserts!
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?
Honestly, I love a good pie. I don’t eat pie as often as I want to but when it’s in my vicinity, that first bite makes me so nostalgic! My parents loved fruit pies and growing up, my mom would often pick one up at the store as a treat and it was perfect! They always put vanilla ice cream on top and it always hit the spot. I love the idea of mini pies because they eliminate mess which is a huge plus!
ANY OTHER NOTES?
If you have any leftover pie crusts, instead of wasting it, you can tear up the pie crusts into little pieces and bake in the oven! I love to add pie crusts, whipped cream and bananas in ice cream to make a banana cream pie blizzard like Dairy Queen!
Mini Heart Shaped Cherry Pies
Ingredients
- 2 Rolls Pre-made/Frozen Pie Crust
- 1/2 Cup Cherry Pie Filling
- 2 Tbsp Powdered Sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out your pie crust and use a heart shaped cookie recipe to cut out as many hearts as you can. Each pie will use 2 hearts!
- Place half the pie crust hearts on a baking sheet and add in a small spoon of cherry filling in the middle.
- Next, on the rest of the pie crusts, either cut a small X on the top to let the pie cook evenly or like in my photos, take a smaller heart cutter and cute small hearts inside.
- Next, add the second pie crust on top and use a fork to seal all the edges.
- Bake at 400F for 20 minutes then let cool.
- Once cooled, dust some powdered sugar on top.
- Serve and enjoy!
Thank you so much for reading to the end of this recipe! I hope you stuff your cheeks with pie and enjoy!

Lynn
