This post will be about what happens when you use only paper to craft an idea. Although it’s easy to use paper, some ideas will require some skills haha. It will require time and effort to make them perfect. So, how can you make paper crafts last for a long time?
There are steps to take during the process of crafting. There are also some things that you are required to do after finishing. Both will help you with how you can make paper crafts last a long time. And there could be more, depending on the DIY project you made.
Sometimes you don’t need to follow all of them. because you will craft different DIY projects. And they all have different steps. So, for that, some of the tips on this list won’t be necessary to follow. There are more than those on this list too.
Some DIY projects can last forever doing nothing. And you will know that based on the project. Whether you need to pay attention to it or do other things. I’m saying this just to clarify things to people who haven’t crafted any paper craft ideas.
It can last a long time. Also, as long as you keep it. So, that means if you take care of it well. Then, it will last forever. because the phrase “a long time” in the title has a limit. However, it could be for as long as you keep taking care of it well.

Out of kids’ reach
Let’s start with something that you do after you finish crafting. And that would be putting the crafts out of your kids’ reach. Any kid around can break it easily. Therefore, if you want to keep it for a long time. Put it somewhere safe that any of the kids around the house can’t reach.
No matter what project you do with paper. You need to keep it in a safe place. Otherwise, kids will ruin it in a moment. Because papers are easy to rip or ruin. So, we need to be more careful after crafting the DIY idea.
It’s one of the main reasons we would lose the project fast. And it happened to me as well. That’s how I learned to be more careful haha. Although it’s easy to craft it again, some DIY projects would be difficult to do again.
Any DIY crafts would not be safe around kids. That’s one thing I learn when I make my DIY cardboard and papercraft. Also, I learned more about how you can make papercrafts last a long time.
When you prepare the location for the paper decoration or useful item, Make sure it’s not somewhere kids can reach. Well, it won’t last for a long time because kids will knock it off and rip it apart. That is something we don’t like to happen, and for that reason, I decided to add it to this list of how you can make paper crafts last a long time.

Keep it away from water
Well, another one is going to be after you finish crafting it. And that would be to avoid getting water on it. Whether from rain (putting it near a window) or from someone else. even if you put it on the desk. Maybe you will spill it on the desk and ruin your DIY project.
Whatever you do, always keep it safe from water. because it would ruin it since it’s paper. We all know what the paper will do when it gets into the water. If any water gets on it, it won’t be good for your DIY project.
Be careful any time, because there might be a time you forget and the kids play with the water guns. And when it gets on it, it will ruin the project. Always be careful not to get water near it. You will be able to make it safe for a long time.
There could be a lot of ways to get water on it. It depends on the situation that happened and the spot of the craft. However, it’s our job to make sure that nothing gets on it. Because water is one of the reasons to ruin the DIY paper craft. And we need to pay attention to how you can make papercraft last for a long time.

Frequently check the project
Another thing that you need to pay attention to and do this often. When you are finished crafting, put it on the spot. You might think that’s all, but it still needs more attention. That would be checking on the project more often.
As time passes, things might need more work. It depends on the project. Because some ideas don’t need to be checked again. It will be good forever. Well, some papercraft ideas will be simple and easy. So, just the more complicated projects. You will need to check from time to time.
If the DIY project needs more glue, you will be able to do that before it falls off. That’s one way how you can make papercraft last for a long time.
You will need to keep checking the project to make sure that it is fresh. Every part is still good. This is another great way how you can make papercraft last for a long time. And if you need any fixes, by doing this, you will figure it out early.
Well, you can set a time every two weeks or every week. It depends on you and the project. Some need more monitoring and some just need a quick check. Also, the place where you put the project needs to be sure if it needs a short time check or a long time check.

Use glue properly until it’s strong.
Sometimes we don’t add enough glue. Maybe we use glue, but not the best glue to keep things strong. Therefore, you need to check whether or not it’s the best glue. And also properly apply the glue wherever you want to apply it.
If you don’t properly apply the glue, it will fall off or something bad will happen to it. When it gets dry, if some of the areas didn’t get enough glue, that could lead to the rest falling off. This is something I learned from experience and I lost one of my paper projects because of that. However, I was lucky to glue it back again and applied more glue the second time.
This could be a problem when it’s for the long term. So, make sure to properly apply the glue and use a strong type of glue. Something can be used on paper. because some glue won’t keep them together for a long time.
even though some ideas don’t need glue. It’s possible to add glue to make it stronger. That would be better for your project to stay for a long time. It will help keep the parts together all the time. There were ideas that I did, to which I added glue, and they weren’t needed. Because I wanted it to stay strong and make sure it wouldn’t fall or get ruined. It’s good for how you can make paper crafts last a long time.

Double-check everything before proceeding to the next step.
Something to ensure that your paper craft will be strong enough to last a long time. Before moving to the next step, double-check. Whether it’s strong enough or needs some work. This way, it might take time, but it will be worth the time in the future.
You don’t want to rush through finishing the project when you are not sure it’s glued well. If it’s not firm, it will not last for a while. And you will probably need to work on it after a few days. Therefore, it’s important to double-check every step during the process of crafting your paper crafts.
Double-check and do what is necessary to keep the DIY papercraft sturdy and firm for a long time. And I say this because you would need to double-check with any crafting process and do what is necessary. Paper crafts have things to do and check.
And when you are at the last step, you will need to check if everything is perfect. Whether your papercraft needs more glue or more items to hold it strong. You will be able to tell when you check it and do what is needed.
