Spaghetti and tacos?! Who would make such a thing?!
We are back with another post in our Food from TV or movie series by recreating iCarly’s Spaghetti Tacos!
I used to watch iCarly as a kid and would laugh at the silly ideas they had. The concept of the show is basically Carly and her best friend Sam having a webcast where they do a series of fun and silly segments. So basically think YouTube + The Ellen Show being hosted by two teenage girls!
For one of their segments, they did spaghetti tacos where it’s literally exactly how it sounds. They put spaghetti with tomato sauce into hard and crunchy taco shells.
Are spaghetti tacos something you’d try?! Let me know in the comments below!
PIN ICARLY’S SPAGHETTI TACOS FOR LATER:
Every time I do one of these recipes, I like to think about the show or character and what they would do to try and make it an, as much as I can, authentic experience for me.
Since these girls were in high school and doing these live videos after school, I do this as easily as I could! I bought my favourite jarred tomato sauce, made super easy meatballs and cheap crunchy taco shells.
This iCarly’s Spaghetti Tacos recipe is accompanied by a YouTube Tutorial. If you haven’t subscribed to my channel on YouTube, don’t forget to!
I indeed admit it was weird and I honestly enjoyed Spongebob’s Jellyfish Sandwiches a lot better. It was sort of bland but not something I would have again but it was a fun experience! I’m sure there is someone out there who could make this work!
It just felt way too heavy for me and not much excitement and flavour even though the spaghetti and meatballs itself was really good!
HERE IS HOW TO MAKE ICARLY’S SPAGHETTI TACOS:
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
These ingredients are super easy to find at your local grocery store! You can make your meatballs from scratch with a mixture of ground meat or you can just buy them frozen. Use your favourite jar of tomato/spaghetti sauce and spaghetti pasta noodles! I recommend getting stand-up taco shells as the fillings are so heavy but any crunchy taco shells work!
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients for iCarly’s Spaghetti Tacos are:
- Taco Shells
- Spaghetti Pasta
- Tomato Sauce
- Ground Beef
- Breadcrumbs
- Shredded Cheese
- Onion
- Garlic
- Italian Seasoning
- Pepper
- Salt
- Olive Oil
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
You don’t need much for this recipe but I used my cute white dutch oven from Amazon to make the sauce, a regular sauce pot to boil the pasta and just a plate to assemble it all. You’ll need a mixing bowl or two as well as tongs and spatulas!
WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO PREPARE?
The steps to prepare iCarly’s Spaghetti Tacos are:
- Prepare
- Roll
- Cook/Simmer
- Assemble
CAN I SUB ANYTHING OUT?
You sure can! iCarly’s Spaghetti tacos are meant to be fun and allow you to use your imagination! If you’re looking to sub anything out for something that you prefer feel free to do so! If you’re looking to make this vegetarian, swap out the meatballs and use beyond meat products or other vegetarian subs like ground mushrooms or black beans.
I would keep the spaghetti pasta but if you want, you can swap it for angel hair, linguine, or fettuccine pasta! Anything long pasta to keep the fun of trying to place it in the taco shell.
The tomato sauce is totally up to you. Pick your favourite jarred tomato sauce at the grocery store or really any pasta sauce you like!
I used shredded mozzarella/cheddar mix for this one but parmesan would be great or any vegan cheese substitutes too!
WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?
Honestly, I imagine a child would like this fun meal. It’s very bland and doesn’t have much going on but if you have a kid in your life who loves spaghetti and tacos, this would be a fun combo for them. Other than that, it’s literally what it sounds like. Just tomato sauce pasta and crunchy tortilla chips!
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
As the pasta with tomato sauce is a saucy and wet dish while the tacos shells are crunchy and hard, they don’t keep well for a long time. If you store them separately and keep the taco shells in an airtight container, they will keep for up to 3 days while the pasta will keep for up to 5-7 days in a cold fridge.
Please don’t leave pasta and meatballs out on the counter!
WHAT GOES WITH ICARLY’S SPAGHETTI TACOS?
Just like regular separate dishes of spaghetti and tacos, this dish would go well with:
- Garlic Bread
- Salad
- Appetizers – calamari, fries, etc.
- By Itself!
WHAT ARE OTHER VARIATIONS OF SPAGHETTI TACOS?
After some research, I’ve found other variations of spaghetti tacos! Not specifically the iCarly way but a more sophisticated and delicious way! Here are some super delicious ways to enjoy spaghetti tacos:
MORE SPAGHETTI RECIPES?
You bet there is! There are thousands of different spaghetti recipes that you can make! Some of my favourites include:
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS DISH?
I love doing my food from TV and Movies series! I am very go go go with my content and this is just a nice series that’s a bit quirky and different. The whole series started from my friend, Raeven’s YouTube video on making the Naco from Kim Possible!
I thought it would be a fantastic ongoing series on my platforms and I really enjoyed it! It’s fun to think about some shows and movies you’ve watched and what food combo that’s featured! I especially love cartoon ones because the sky’s the limit on your imagination and interpretation!
HOW CAN I MEAL PREP THIS RECIPE?
Honestly, with this recipe, you can’t really meal prep it together but if you really wanted to take it to work or lunch the day after or even wanted to serve it to a friend in a take out container, you’ll just need to pack it separately and perhaps teach them how to eat it together!
ANY OTHER NOTES?
No other notes for this one. Something I definitely WON’T be trying again and didn’t necessarily enjoy but as always it’s the experience that makes it all worth it!

This is the first of the Food from TV or Movies segments that I didn’t particularly enjoy! I love the concept but would never have it this way again. The next time I try it, I’ll be doing a more intricate version for sure!
I thought that this would be the most accurate way Carly and Sam from iCarly would make this recipe!
I hope you enjoyed this version of iCarly’s Spaghetti Tacos recipe! I can’t wait for next month.

Lynn

What a unique spin on spaghetti and tacos! And that’s a bummer that it is bland. Funny how you mention a kid might like it. Surprisingly enough my son loves bland spaghetti! I don’t know why but he does. This would definitely be a hit with him!

I love how honest you are, Lynn! These sound interesting. I probably wouldn’t like them, but I bet my kids would. They tend to enjoy things that have weaker flavors. Very creative though, I love it!
Haha Thanks so much, Heidi xx
Lynn you seriously rock. I loved watching I Carly when I was younger. At the time I didn’t appreciate the show right away but then it grew on me and became kind of a staple in my life. I absolutely love this. First of all I am going to be trying this because I love “weird food” in general. I always am up for trying something new and unconventional. You are doing such a great job with your blog and love your video tutorials. You are such a rock star! Keep it up!
Aw, thank you so much!!! Your support means everything to me! You’re the best, Shyla xx
This looks yummy. I never tried it with Italian seasoning. This would be perfect for the week to cook it because I have some times haha. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for reading! xx
Lynn, I love your creativity! Your idea for this series was/is genuinely brilliant. 🙂
I love tacos and I love spaghetti…but the two in one? Hmm, I don’t know about that! I might be in the same boat as you, thinking that it’s just a bit too heavy for my tastebuds. In agreement with you about kids though — it does seem like a really fun recipe they might enjoy!
Those other taco spaghetti recipes sound mighty tempting though. Might have to give one of those a try on a comfort food kind of night around here! 😉
Thank you for sharing. Your blog is awesome! Sending much love your way.

I remember this from Icarly. I used to watch that show all the time when I was younger. I had a feeling it didn’t taste the best but I would try it out. My dad loves tacos and I think he might like this recipe.
