Minimalism

Purchasing intentionally is the best thing to do for your wallet and life! I made a vow to only buy things that I love and if I couldn’t afford it, I would save up until I can or try and thrift it. I don’t settle for less anymore and we’re taking this attitude to 2021!

Open Concepts

I love the idea of having one huge room. It feels less isolating and a wonderful way to bring it to light in!

Boho

If you know me, you know how much I adore boho decor! So beautiful and cozy.

Lots of Bright Light/Windows

I always look forward to opening our blinds every morning. I love natural light especially since I’ve been home for most of 2020!

lots of bright light/windows

Sustainable Items

I’ve been buying sustainable products this year and I can’t say that I’m the role model for it but I know a lot of people have been switching to purchasing sustainable items! I love being able to help our planet in any way I can.

Rattan

In the same theme as boho but I love rattan products so much. They are so pretty and make the room feel more natural!

Beautiful ceramic pieces also add an earthly feel to a room.

  19. Sarah says

    January 2, 2021 at

A lot of interesting trends this year. I’m down for more greenery and overall less stuff. Funnily enough, we got rid of several of our indoor plants this fall, they were starting to die off. I plan to replace them this spring and look forward to having plenty of plants once again. Love having big windows, letting in that natural light is fantastic and also helps to warm up the house during the colder months.

    • lynnmumbingmejia says

      January 2, 2021 at

Thanks for reading Sarah! I totally agree, less stuff allows me to be less anxious and more at peace with the space I have!

  28. Jaclyn - Jaclynistic Vibes says

    January 3, 2021 at

I want to do some decorating this year, so this post has given me some inspiration. I’m a huge fan of neutral shades but with pops of colour from accessories. So it’s good to know this is still a relevant trend. I also love the idea of a junk drawer and clear surfaces. I hate clutter, so I much prefer ‘things’ being out of sight. And more greenery sounds like a great idea too. Thanks for sharing all these x

      Thanks Monique!

  31. Michelle says

    January 3, 2021 at

These are great trends. I don’t have a green thumb but I love the idea of more greenery in the house so I’ve been adding more plants.

Open concept is awesome but we’re kind of limited by what we have in the homes we live in. I grew up in the north of England where every room was shut off from the others. Our house is about 40 years old so it’s fairly open. When we renovated our kitchen, we knocked out a wall between the kitchen and dining area. I was amazed at how much bigger and brighter it made our kitchen.

    • lynnmumbingmejia says

      January 3, 2021 at

Thanks, Michelle! Totally agree. I rent my place currently so there’s so much I can do but the little things do make an amazing difference 🙂

  32. Britt K says

    January 3, 2021 at

I am IN LOVE with my hammock outdoors, so the idea of having something that comfortable indoors really stands out to me. I wouldn’t say that our house is overly boho, but it is a little more rustic so I’m sure that I could pull it off if it’s carried out in the right way! I DO have an open area in the living room that I’ve been trying to decide what to do with… The ideas are now running through my mind! Thanks for the inspiration!

    • lynnmumbingmejia says

      January 3, 2021 at

      Thanks Britt!

Easy DIY Ribbon Garland 🎀 Bows have been the o Easy DIY Ribbon Garland 🎀

Bows have been the ongoing trend for a while now and I am obsessed! I have always been girly girly and have loved bows for so long. It makes make super excited to see everyone embracing bows as a decor trend!

STEPS TO PUT TOGETHER THIS EASY DIY RIBBON GARLAND:
Step 1: Cut Strips Of Ribbons To Your Desired Size Of Bow
I cut about 25-30cm strips and cut about 20 to 30 of these according to how long my shelf was. You can measure the place you’d like to hang your ribbon garland for more accuracy in sizing.
Step 2: Tie Your Ribbons In The Way That’s Easiest For You
I honestly watched so many ribbon tutorials and I found that this video from Tiktok was the easiest for me to follow! There are so many ways to create little bows so just pick the way that’s the easiest for you!
Step 3: Ensure That Bow Length Are Similar In Size
I cut the ends of the bows to make sure that the bows are similar in size. It does not need to be perfect, and of course, you can leave it as is but I like to make them slightly similar in size.
Optional: I like to heat seal the edges of the ribbons or they don’t fray!
Step 4: Glue Ribbon Together To Desired Length Of Garland
Glue the sides of the bows together until they form a garland to your desired length.
Step 5: Hang Up And Enjoy Your Craft!
Hang the garland in your desired place in your home and admire a job well done!
