Roasted nuts has always been a favourite snack for me and especially love it during the holidays. The famous line “chestnuts roasting on an open fire” isn’t famous for no reason! Chestnuts are a special treat but you can make holiday spiced nuts yourself to snack on all year round!
The brown sugar and maple syrup coated around mixed salty nuts gives an assortment of different flavours and textures!

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE HOLIDAY SPICED CANDIED NUTS:
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
You can find these ingredients at your local grocery store! You may even have everything already in your pantry. For this recipe, all you need is salted mixed nuts, maple syrup, vanilla extract, nutmeg, cinnamon, all spice and brown sugar! In the grocery stores, all of these ingredients should be within the pantry/non-perishable items or in the baking section!
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make this festive holiday snack recipe are:
- Salted Mixed Nuts
- Maple Syrup
- Brown Sugar
- Vanilla Extract
- Nutmeg
- Cinnamon
- All Spice
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
This recipe is so easy that you can create it all on one baking sheet but I personally like to mix everything in a bowl first to ensure that every nut is fully coated in all the seasonings and sugar! You’ll need some mixing bowls and spoons, measuring cups and spoons, parchment paper and a baking tray!
Here are some of my Amazon kitchen and baking favs!
CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
For this recipe specifically, there is not much to substitute out as it is a super easy recipe however, here are some addition/substitution ideas that you can try out!
- Just using one type of nut like peanuts instead of mixed nuts
- Adding in an egg white to create an even crunchier crust
- Adding some orange zest or juice to give it a citrusy flavour
- Adding some flaky salt once out of the oven
WHAT DO HOLIDAY SPICED CANDIED NUTS TASTE LIKE?
These holiday spiced candied nuts taste exactly what you would think! The roasted slightly charred flavour from the caramelization of the sugar as well as crunchy sugar and slightly saltiness gives these nuts the perfect balance that will leave you wanting more!
I personally have to keep them out of sight because I keep going back and can’t stop snacking on them!
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
This recipe lasts quite a while as sugar helps preserve the nuts! Nuts alone are already great non-perishable snack item so keep in an airtight container for about 5-7 days. Ensure that the container is completely dry and store this in a nice dry place with no moisture.
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?
Yes! A couple of years back, I made Christmas cookie boxes for all my friends and family and alongside the cookies, I made candied nuts and also a homemade candle! It was so fun to DIY these boxes and it was truly made with love!
If you’re looking to make some homemade gifts for Christmas this year, these holiday spiced candied nuts are a great idea! It was a hit for everyone!
ANY OTHER NOTES?
Cook time definitely depends on your preference! I personally love when the nuts are slightly burnt but of course, not everyone loves the taste of burnt nuts so you can take them out of the oven when you feel like it’s gotten a good enough roast! The sugar will harden as it cools!
