Fall decor is my favourite decor! I find it incredibly easy to make your home super cozy in the Fall season rather than any other season. During Christmas, I find that the decoration is more magical feeling than anything!
If you’ve been following the blog for a while now, you know that we are all about white and beige or neutral colours really as well as being modern with a touch of a DIY home vibe.
I love doing crafts and making my own decor. It makes me feel insanely proud when something I made or did with my own 2 hands is being showcased!
Do you like making your own decor? Or do you just like purchasing pre-made items?! I’d love to know below!

Pumpkins are pretty much the ultimate Fall vibe! Everyone goes crazy for anything Pumpkin as soon as August hits including me! I swear, I purchase a new pumpkin decor piece every time I go to the grocery store! They are everywhere and home decor stores make it incredibly hard to resist!
I’ve spoken about this before but when I moved into our townhouse rental back in 2020, I told myself that I was going to decorate the way I want to but also take my time. I’ve been trying to live as intentional as I can and this includes not purchasing whatever my heart desires and actually taking the time to figure out if this item is actually something I want.
Do you currently decorate your home the way you want to? or waiting until you can? I’d love to hear about your home decor journey!

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE AN EASY NEUTRAL PAPER PUMPKIN GARLAND:
WHAT ARE THE MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THIS EASY NEUTRAL PAPER PUMPKIN GARLAND?
For this paper pumpkin garland, you need very little materials and it is so affordable!
You’ll need any colour you want string or twine you’d like, paper, printer, mini paper clips and that’s about it!
- Twine
- Mini Wood Craft Clips or Clothespins
- Paper/Printer to print out the printable!
I’ve included this printable in my freebie library which is accessible by joining my email list! I have TONS of home decor-related printables on there and every single DIY wall art I’ve hung in my home!
Click here to join my email list or the image below!
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE MATERIALS?
You can find the materials to make this paper pumpkin garland anywhere. Chances are you’ll be able to find what you need at the dollar store and if not, any craft stores like Michaels or Hobby Lobby or Jo-Ann. If you love shopping online, Amazon is your best friend!
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
For this easy paper pumpkin garland, all you’ll need is a pair of scissors! That’s right, no other equipment is required! I think in my opinion, in this case, you should use smaller scissors. I only have huge bulky scissors and it was a bit harder to navigate.
WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO CREATE?
The steps needed to create this paper pumpkin garland are:
- Prepare and Cut out – all the pumpkin cut outs, twine and mini clothespins
- Create and Put Together – each of the pumpkin cut outs and clothespins and connect it to the twine or string of your choosing.
- Space Out – each pumpkin on the twine
- Hang – Once you’ve completed this DIY project, you can hang it on your mantel, shelves, staircase or anywhere you’d like!
CAN I SUB ANYTHING OUT?
There isn’t much to sub out for this paper pumpkin garland craft but you definitely can if you please! If you plan to use the cutouts that I provide, you can do a black cat, bat or ghost garland instead of pumpkins!
If you don’t have any twine, you can use any string or rope you’d like! You can alternatively use yarn as well.
As for the mini clothespins, if you can’t find these, you can just use regular paper clips or even just glue the paper pumpkins directly on the twine or string!
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
This paper pumpkin garland decor really only lasts the season so I suggest you switch it out every season. I use card stock for this so the pumpkins are a bit thicker. If you’re gentle with them, you can definitely make them last for a long time but if it ends up breaking, then it’s not a problem to just recreate it!
The great thing about this project too is that it’s very sustainable. Jute twine is made of natural vegetable fibre and you can always recycle the paper after you use it. The clothespins can be used for many projects moving forward as well!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE?
This paper pumpkin garland requires such little time The only thing that took a while was cutting each individual pumpkin. I’m not that great with scissors and being precise so you might be able to do it much quicker! I always do my crafts and projects while watching TV/movies or listening to a podcast so time flies by!
I always try and use outlines that don’t have too many twists and turns so the cutting is much easier!
I’d say realistically, from start to finish, this craft took about 15-20 minutes. It doesn’t require any drying time or rest time so as soon as you’re done, you can hang it up!
MORE DECOR INSPIRATION?
Absolutely! I can’t state enough how much I love DIY garlands. Some other home decor that I adore that remind me of this paper pumpkin garland are:
- DIY Yarn Pumpkin Garland – Such a cute yarn pumpkin garland idea! Easy and requires little materials!
- DIY Pumpkin Paper Garland Project – Really awesome vertical garland! Would be a perfect photo background too!
- Pumpkin Pie Felt Garland Banner – Pumpkin pie garland is perfect for Thanksgiving!
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS DECOR?
The inspiration I originally got from making these kinds of paper garland came from a fellow blogger! Charity made a simple paper heart banner and I loved it! I made one for Valentine’s as well earlier this year and wanted to make one for Halloween/Fall. Here’s the reel on Instagram from when I made a paper heart garland!
My home is filled with DIYs and modern-looking home decor. This is the first year where I decorated for Halloween and I wanted to make sure that I focused on modern Halloween home decor. I thought this paper pumpkin garland would look so cute and tried it out and love it!
WHERE CAN I PUT THIS EASY NEUTRAL PAPER PUMPKIN GARLAND?
I pretty much just decorated my living room in Halloween decor so I ended up putting this paper pumpkin garland on my mantel.
Some other places that you can hang a garland are in front of your bookshelves, pantry shelves, where the staircase is, on a grid wall and in front of a door!
ANY OTHER NOTES?
No notes for this one! It’s a very straightforward and budget-friendly craft. This DIY also comes with a YouTube video tutorial on my channel so if you have any issues following along with my written instructions, you could check out the video and follow along with what I’m doing!
