When I was at the beginning of my weight loss journey, I prioritized eating fish and shrimp! It has the lowest calories and is high protein. I honestly have to say haddock fillets and shrimp were such good contributors to why I was so successful in losing so much weight!
My trick to not getting sick of it was changing up the flavours! Alongside my Baked Panko Haddock, I often made this asian flavoured haddock too!

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE EASY ASIAN HADDOCK:
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
You can find the ingredients for this delicious Asian haddock in most grocery stores but way easier from Asian grocery stores. You’ll need to have sesame oil, sesame seeds, and soy sauce which you can find normally in the Asian or pantry/sauces section then you’ll need some fresh produce like ginger, garlic and green onions! I use frozen haddock and buy big pack of them from Costco but of course, fresh fish is the best! I don’t live by the ocean so fresh fish isn’t an option for me.
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make this delicious Asian flavoured haddock fillets are:
- Haddock Fillets
- Fresh Ginger
- Fresh Garlic
- Sesame oil
- Sesame Seed
- Soy Sauce
- Green Onions
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
All you’ll need for this recipe is some measuring cups and spoons, a container to let the fish marinate, some parchment paper and a baking tray to cook the fish in. You can alternatively cook this fish in a pan or in an airfryer if you don’t have an oven! I have done both but for me, baked foods are the easiest for me!
I like to meal prep and just prepare a bunch of sheet pans with stuff to cook to get my cooking out of the way!
Here are some of my Amazon baking and kitchen favs!:
CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
This recipe just uses general Asian flavours so you can of course alter it to however you’ please! ‘d like! I didn’t add salt to this as I find the soy sauce enough for me but you can also add a bit of salt if you’d like. Here are a few ideas you can do to spruce up this recipe!
- Add some sliced sweet onions
- Add some honey or brown sugar
- Add some rice vinegar
- Add some chilli flakes
- Add some black or white pepper
WHAT DOES EASY ASIAN HADDOCK TASTE LIKE?
This Easy Asian Haddock is a simple yet flavorful dish that’s perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a light meal. The haddock fillets are seasoned with a savory blend of soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame for a perfect balance of salty and umami flavors. After a quick marinade, the fish is baked until it’s perfectly tender and flaky.
Personally, my favourite food is Asian food, so I love Asian flavours and many different Asian ethnicities, and this Asian haddock is a recipe that I come back to time and time again.
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
I usually like cook mine in batches of 3 so that I can enjoy it for dinner for 3 meals! I definitely would not say that haddock is a fishy fish but the longer it sits in the fridge, the most to me at least, the fishiness comes out so it can keep up to 4-5 days but no longer than that!
Of course, store it in an airtight container and use your best instincts! If it smells off, don’t risk it!
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?
I’ve been going through a weight loss/fitness journey for about 2-3 years, and while altering my diet, I found that haddock was a great source of protein, yet being very light and delicious! Haddock contributes to a majority of my weight loss and I continue to eat it to this day!
Like I mentioned above, I really love Asian flavours so I often did this Asian haddock recipe! I also did my Baked Panko Haddock or used my Garlic Lemongrass Chili Oil often!
