HERE IS HOW TO MAKE A DIY LILO AND STITCH COSTUME:
WHERE CAN YOU FIND THE MATERIALS TO MAKE THIS DIY LILO AND STITCH COSTUME?
This costume is so great to easily put together! I got most of my costume pieces from Amazon but you can easily find these items from your local craft store, dollar store or even at the mall! To embody Lilo, you’ll need a bright red crop top, a dark green skirt and leafy green headband and ankle bands!
My favourite part was the stitch plushie! You can pick up a stitch plushie from many retailers but I bought mine off Amazon and I love him! Of course, Lilo is bare feet but if you’re going to be out all day, thin black flip flops or flats are great to use for this costume!
WHAT ARE THE MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THIS DIY LILO AND STITCH COSTUME?
To create this super easy and cute Lilo and Stitch costume, you will need:
- Red Crop Top
- Dark Green Skirt
- Green Leafy Head band and Ankle bands
- Stitch Plushie

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
This is another costume that you can just put together and don’t need to use any crafty skills! This DIY costume does not need any supplies as you really just need to throw everything on!
CAN I SUBSTITUTE ANY MATERIALS OUT?
Yes! Absolutely! So, I did Lilo’s outfit from her dance recital but you can also do her red dress instead. I find that the red crop top and green skirt was easy to find and also great to reuse for any future outfits. You can alternatively do a grass skirt just like what Lilo had!
I just bought the green garland head band and ankle bands but you can of course make the garland from scratch with just leafy vines from the dollar or craft store!
Last but not least, I just bought a Stitch plushie however, I do admit that having to hold Stitch all day/night would be annoying so you can also maybe attach a Stitch print out somewhere on your costume to be hands free easily! The plushie is so cute though if you don’t mind holding it!
DOES THE COSTUME LAST TO USE FOR THE FOLLOWING YEARS?
The beauty of this costume is that it is so easy to put together and since this requires no crafting like cutting or glueing, all the elements of this costume are in perfect condition! You can put this outfit together for many many years with no issues! The only thing that *may* have an issue is if the leaves on the head band and ankle bands fall apart but you can easily put it together again or glue on a few leaves to make it fuller at anytime!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PUT TOGETHER?
Oh man, this costume has got to be the fastest costume to put together yet! All you need to do is put on your costume right before you leave for the day and that’s it! Do your hair and make-up however you’d like!
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS COSTUME?
I saw earlier this year that there was a live-action Lilo and Stitch movie in the works and I knew that I wanted to recreate a costume! It brought back so many memories as a child for me since Lilo and Stitch was the first movie I ever saw in theatres so I was happy to do this!
I wasn’t sure if I wanted to recreate Lilo’s dress or her dance recital outfit but I already had a dark green skirt so being a step closer to making this costume, it was a no brainer! I try my best to use what I have at home already or can easily get!
STEPS TO PUT TOGETHER THIS DIY LILO AND STITCH COSTUME:
