Read more for all the details on how to make a DIY Dollar Tree Ornament Wreath.
I started planning my New Year goals and plans when it dawned on me… I’m broke! I had been spending so much for the holidays but needed to start making room for all of my next year’s plans but there were still a few missing elements to my Christmas decor that I wanted to fill up.
I knew that my next and only store that I could really shop at at this point would be the Dollar Tree. I looked through Pinterest for Christmas Home Decor inspo one last time and choose some things I was looking for and what I could make and this ornament wreath was one of them!
I saw some really expensive ones from nicer stores but I knew that I could make something just as gorgeous myself!

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE A DIY DOLLAR TREE ORNAMENT WREATH:
WHAT ARE THE MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THIS DIY DOLLAR TREE ORNAMENT WREATH?
To make this DIY Dollar Tree Ornament Wreath, you honestly need tons of ornaments but other than that really nothing else!
You’ll need any colour you want of ornaments, a wreath frame and bow and that’s about it!
- 1 Wreath Frame
- Assorted sizes of ornament balls and bells
- Pre-made bow
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE MATERIALS?
You can find the materials to make this DIY Dollar Tree Ornament Wreath anywhere BUT I found most of the materials from the Dollar Tree. Chances are you’ll be able to find what you need at the dollar store and if not, any craft stores like Michaels or Hobby Lobby or Jo-Ann. If you love shopping online, Amazon is your best friend!
I have seen lots of wreath frames from the Dollar Tree but when I went out to buy these materials for this wreath, I didn’t see any and bought this frame from Michaels!
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
To make this gorgeous DIY Dollar Tree Ornament Wreath, all you’ll really need is a hot glue gun and hot glue gun sticks! Alternatively, you can use super glue or industrial glue if you want this to last really long. I have had a few smaller ornament balls that I needed to restick on the wreath frame!
WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO CREATE?
The steps needed to create this DIY Dollar Tree Ornament Wreath are:
- Prepare – all the ornaments and heat up the hot glue gun
- Create – and glue together each ornament on the wreath frame then layer on top to cover any holes
- Add on – the gorgeous pre-made OR DIY homemade bow
- Hang – Once you’ve completed this DIY project, you can hang it on your door, living room, mantel, or anywhere you’d like in your home!
CAN I SUB/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
There aren’t many things you can sub out on this DIY Dollar Tree Ornament Wreath but you’re welcome to choose any ornament colours you’d like! If you’re doing a red/green wreath then pick up red/green ornaments! I also think blue ornaments would look amazing!
Of course, as always, my home is very neutral and modern so I chose white, gold, silver and rose gold ornaments for this wreath! You can also add in some mini snowflake ornaments if you’d like!
I hand make my bows as always BUT you can always buy a bow from the Dollar Tree too! They had a cute assortment of bows which I was obsessed with too! I just thought to save a bit of money since I have a lot of gorgeous ribbons at home.
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
This DIY Dollar Tree Ornament Wreath will definitely last you for years and years to come. It is gorgeous and so sturdy! The only thing I’d suggest if you’re really going to keep this as an annual decor piece that you store and hang up every year is that instead of using hot glue, I recommend using industrial glue.
I’ve had pieces of ornaments and bells fall off when handling it but it wasn’t a big deal! I was able to glue it back on the wreath in seconds but to avoid that, industrial or super glue is a much safer bet!
I would still be very gentle when handling this wreath and keep it as an indoor decor rather than an outdoor wreath!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE?
I’m not going to lie, this wreath took me a bit of time just because you’re glueing each ornament one by one on the wreath BUT with hot glue, you need to move pretty quickly so I’d say realistically about 30 minutes – 1 hour.
It’s helpful and important to prepare everything you need ahead of time so that you’re not stuck trying to scramble and prepare things while you’re working with your hot glue. I like to play a Christmas movie while I do crafts so time goes by a lot faster!
After glueing each ornament, you’ll want to hold it in place for a few seconds to make sure that the ornament is straight and the hot glue isn’t tilting it.
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS DECOR?
I don’t have a specific reference of where I got this inspo but I always scroll through Pinterest and see what I love then my brain does all of the work to make this happen. I think this was just a combined interest in a wreath but seeing how I can make it from Dollar Tree materials.
I was thinking of adding greenery to this wreath but most of the Dollar Tree garlands and greenery look a bit tacky for my taste but I found really cute ornaments so I thought to do this instead!
I really wanted to make an all-white one but there weren’t any white ornaments at the Dollar Tree so I had to use what I could find and don’t regret it at all! This wreath looks gorgeous and I’m very happy with the colours!
WHERE CAN I PUT THIS EASY DIY DOLLAR TREE ORNAMENT WREATH?
I originally had this wreath in the living room beside the Christmas Tree but the rest of my home really lacks Christmas decor so I thought to add a clear command hook near our dining table/kitchen and hang the wreath there and it looks amazing!
Alternatively, this wreath would look stunning in front of any door like the bathroom door, bathroom door, office door, mantel or just a plain wall!
ANY OTHER NOTES?
No other notes for this DIY Dollar Tree Ornament Wreath! I made this DIY for under $20 and other ornament wreaths or similar wreaths I found in store were more than $50! I love how simple and easy this wreath is and I highly recommend it to anyone!
STEPS TO DO THIS DIY DOLLAR TREE ORNAMENT WREATH:
Step 1: Turn on your hot glue gun to heat up while your prepare your materials.
Step 2: Layout all of your assorted ornaments and bells. OPTIONAL: Remove the tops of the ornament as it will be easier to glue on.
Step 3: Once your glue is hot, glue your biggest-sized ornament balls all along the wreath frame.
Step 4: After you’ve filled the wreath outline with your largest ornament balls, glue on your smaller ornament balls in the inside of the wreath frame. The smaller ornament balls should be glued to the large ornament balls so you’ll be adding hot glue to the sides of the smaller ornaments.
Step 5: Continue to layer the ornament balls and fill in the gaps with smaller bells or any ornaments you’d like till you’re happy with the shape and wreath!
Step 6: Glue your bow on top of the wreath. Make sure that you’re holding the wreath the way you want it to hang on the wall so the bow is properly placed!
Step 7: Hang on your wall and enjoy!
I hope you enjoyed reading this super easy DIY Dollar Tree Ornament Wreath craft. I’m full into the holiday spirit and am so excited to be seeing my family and spending some quality time with them soon!
