- Farmers’ Markets: Farmers’ markets may have locally sourced ingredients like organic oats, artisanal cookies, or fresh dairy products.
- Online Retailers: Explore online marketplaces and grocery stores that offer delivery services. They often stock a variety of oatmeal, specialty cookies, and alternative ingredients.
- Health Food Stores: These stores usually provide an array of organic, gluten-free, or specialty items that cater to various dietary preferences.
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make this delicious cookies and cream overnight oats are:
- Rolled Oats
- Chia Seeds
- Plain Greek Yogurt
- Almond Milk (your preference of milk)
- Oreos (any flavor or variation you’d like, as many as you’d like)
- Chocolate sauce OR sweetener (optional)
- Whipped cream (optional)
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
The beauty of overnight oats is the fact that you don’t need much to create them! All you’ll need is some measuring cups/spoons, a mason jar, and a spoon to eat them with! I personally just use regular mason jars but highly recommend getting cute ones especially if you’re just getting into the routine of enjoying overnight oats for breakfast! I struggled with eating breakfast for a long time but whenever I have my food in cute containers, it helps to enjoy them even more!
These are some of my favs from Amazon:
CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
Of course! You can substitute or add anything to this recipe. I don’t love super sweet breakfasts so I try my best to not add any sweeteners or additional syrups but I will add a little bit once in a while. If you love sweet breakfast, feel free to add in a sweetener of your choice!
On the note of sweetness, a great addition to these overnight oats would be some chocolate chips. If you want to bulk it up more, you can add some protein powder. If you’re wanting more textures, you can add some nuts! I love using Greek yogurt as it’s super thick but regular yogurt works great too.
Overnight oats are generally gluten-free but regular Oreos however, are not. Thank goodness, there are some gluten-free Oreos you can get so if you have a gluten-free diet, use that instead!
Lastly, I switch up my oat and almond milk monthly so use whatever milk you have on hand!
WHAT DO COOKIES AND CREAM OVERNIGHT OATS TASTE LIKE?
Cookie and Cream Overnight Oats offer a delightful blend of flavors reminiscent of the classic cookies and cream dessert. The taste profile typically combines the following elements:
Creaminess: The oats, milk, and yogurt create a creamy base that mimics the smoothness of cream in a dessert.
Sweetness: Depending on the ingredients used, sweetness comes from the added cookies, often chocolate or vanilla-flavored, and possibly a touch of honey, maple syrup, or sweetened yogurt. This sweetness mirrors the indulgent taste of cookies.
Cookie Crunch: The bits of cookie pieces soften slightly overnight, infusing their flavor into the oats while retaining a pleasant crunch, providing a contrast in texture.
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
Generally, Cookie and Cream Overnight Oats can last in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days when stored properly in an airtight container. However, the texture and taste might slightly change over time due to the moisture from the oats and cookies. For the best quality and freshness, it’s recommended to consume them within 1-2 days after preparation.
If you don’t like your cookies soggy, you can add in all your cookies at once and mix them! If you want your cookies to try and stay as crunchy as possible, add them right before you eat this!
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?
Overnight oats have been a game-changer for me ever since college. It took me a long time to enjoy anything oat-related and I had to train myself to enjoy oatmeal! I had to find more creative ways to enjoy breakfast so I dabbled in making my overnight oats breakfasts into desserts!
