Oh my, the months are going by so flipping fast!! I have a few Halloween posts left but Christmas is full swinging on the blog! One of the last few Christmas treats on the blog will be these Chocolate-Covered Ghost Strawberries!
I love chocolate-covered strawberries so much but they can definitely break the bank! I usually only purchase them for special occasions and would have to savour them so much. It took me a while to realize that I didn’t need to watch for a special occasion! I could make chocolate-covered strawberries whenever I wanted without breaking the bank.
The idea of making these look like ghosts is an awesome Halloween treat! My husband and I adore white chocolate so these are perfect for us to enjoy.
Do you like chocolate-covered strawberries? Do you top them with anything? I’d love to know in the comments!

These Chocolate-Covered Ghost Strawberries are an awesome decadent treat to enjoy for the month of Halloween! It is so easy to make and literally is 2 ingredients! Chocolate and Strawberries! You will be the hit of the party by bringing these cute chocolate-covered ghost strawberries!
I’m already planning when I can make these for my next Halloween party! I’m so excited as these are the cutest and super affordable too!
This Chocolate-Covered Ghost Strawberries recipe is accompanied by a YouTube Tutorial. If you haven’t subscribed to my channel on YouTube, don’t forget to!
HERE IS HOW TO MAKE CHOCOLATE-COVERED GHOST STRAWBERRIES:
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients for these chocolate-covered ghost strawberries are literally so simple! You may already have these ingredients at home or have them listed on your grocery list every week! If you don’t, you’ll be able to find these at your local grocery store!
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
All you literally need to make these Chocolate-Covered Ghost Strawberries are chocolate and strawberries! Crazy right! The ingredients to make these Chocolate-Covered Ghost Strawberries are:
- Strawberries washed and cleaned
- White Chocolate
- Milk Chocolate
WHAT TYPE OF CHOCOLATE SHOULD I USE?
Honestly, the chocolate I used for this recipe was the cheapest chocolate I could get! I bought the $1 Walmart chocolate bars and they worked so well. You can always use more expensive chocolate too if you’re looking to splurge! I love melting Lindt truffles as well as Ghiradelli chocolates when we have a fondue night.
WHAT IS THE TIME BREAKDOWN TO MAKE THIS RECIPE?
The time breakdown to make these chocolate-covered ghost strawberries is actually very little. The only thing that really needs to be taken into consideration is the time it takes to fully chill the melted chocolate on the strawberries. The full breakdown is:
To Prepare– this includes washing and drying your strawberries and melting your chocolate
Time: 10 Minutes
To Assemble – this includes dipping each of the strawberries in white chocolate and making milk chocolate ghost faces
Time: 15 Minutes
To Chill – this includes chilling in the fridge for minimally 2 hours for the chocolate to harden
Total time from start to finish: 2 hours and 25 minutes
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
You don’t need too much equipment to make these chocolate-covered ghost strawberries! They are super easy to prepare and only really uses a microwave to melt the chocolate. Other than that, I just melt the chocolate in bowls in 30-second intervals in the microwave. Some kind of skewer would be excellent so you don’t need to hold the strawberries and risk them falling into the chocolate.
You can alternatively use a piping bag if you like as well! Just make sure that the chocolate has slightly harden so you’re not dripping chocolate all over your counters!
WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO PREPARE?
This treat is super easy to prepare and require very little work which I love! The steps to make these yummy chocolate-covered ghost strawberries are:
- Prepare – wash and dry all of the strawberries
- Melt – the chocolate in the microwave in 30 second intervals til completely melted
- Dip – each strawberry in the chocolate and draw on a ghost face
- Chill – in the fridge for minimally 2 hours so the chocolate can harden
- Serve – and enjoy!
CAN I SUB/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
There really aren’t many ingredients to substitute in these chocolate-covered ghost strawberries. The only thing would be using your preferred brand of chocolate which can be the more expensive brands or even vegan or sustainable chocolate companies.
The strawberries, I would keep for sure as this recipe is chocolate-covered strawberries after all but you could try this with other fruits too if you’d like!
WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?
These chocolate-covered ghost strawberries were soooo good! My husband and I ate the plate within minutes! I was surprised that this wasn’t as sweet but it might’ve just been the strawberries and chocolate I picked up specifically for this recipe!
You have a semi-hard chocolate shell and a sweet and ripe strawberry together in one bite. It is the perfect indulgent treat to have for Halloween!
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
These chocolate-covered strawberries keep for about 2 days in the fridge. The strawberries of course have a lot of moisture so beware of that! I just store them in an airtight container in the fridge more towards the door so the don’t freeze. They do taste good frozen though if that’s your preference!
You really can keep them for longer or for as long as the strawberries are in good condition but they are the best being eaten within 2 days. If you’re making this for other people, I suggest you make them the night before late at night to ensure that the chocolate shell has fully hardened.
WHAT GOES WITH THESE CHOCOLATE-COVERED GHOST STRAWBERRIES?
Chocolate-covered strawberries are a fantastic treat to bring to a gathering, party or just cause! They are so easy to make, look gorgeous and is a crowd-pleaser for sure! These chocolate-covered ghost strawberries are great:
- By Itself – a decadent treat to enjoy by itself after a meal!
- With Coffee – an awesome treat with a hot black coffee
- WIth Tea – a sweet treat to enjoy with a piping cup of tea
- On a Halloween Board – to compliment all the beautiful Halloween treats!
- For a Girls Night – the perfect treat for girls night!
- As a Halloween Treat – to bring to a party or just to have a fun Halloween themed treat in the month of October!
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS DISH?
I was scrolling on Pinterest and saw these ghost strawberries and thought to make them myself! I’ve seen them time and time again but have never attempted to make them until this year!
I love chocolate-covered strawberries and its technically the only way I get my husband to eat strawberries so we enjoy them on date nights or when its one of ours birthdays/wedding anniversary!
HOW CAN I MEAL PREP THIS RECIPE?
You can easily take these as a treat when you next have work! They are so good but the only thing is that they can just a bit messy to eat! So, if you do meal prep these chocolate-covered ghost strawberries, its best to store them in a airtight container with a skewer or toothpick so you can hold these strawberries without getting your hands all dirty!
COST OF THESE WHAT GOES WITH THESE CHOCOLATE-COVERED GHOST STRAWBERRIES?
These chocolate-covered strawberries are amazing and I wouldn’t say super affordable BUT it is affordable compared to buying it from the stores or a business. I love watching small businesses on Tiktok make these but they are just so dang expensive!
Based on my groceries in CAD, if you were buying EVERYTHING from scratch:
Chocolate-Covered Ghost Strawberries
- 1 Package Strawberries (1 lb) -$4,98
- 2 White Chocolate Bars (100g) – $1.00 each x 2 = $2.00
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (300g) – $3.80
Total: $9.98 before taxes (not all the ingredients were used and leftovers can be used for other recipes)
As all of these ingredients are new, if you just priced out the actual ingredients used to make these chocolate-covered ghost strawberries, it would come up to about $7.28 before taxes.
