You can find the ingredients to make Candy Cane Chocolate Chip Cookies at most grocery stores. Here’s a list of common ingredients and where to find them:
- All-Purpose Flour: Usually found in the baking aisle.

- Brown Sugar: Look for this near granulated sugar.

If you prefer convenience, many grocery stores offer delivery or pickup services, making it easy to get your ingredients without leaving home. Candy canes are usually in shops around August to the end of the year but I found candy canes in some bulk stores and online if it’s hard to find during the time you wish to make these!
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make these delicious candy cane chocolate are:
- All-Purpose Flour
- Granulated Sugar
- Brown Sugar
- Butter

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
Since this is really a standard chocolate chip cookie recipe with a small twist, all you’ll really need is general baking things! To crush the candy canes, I just use a ziplock and a wooden spoon and just beat the candy canes until they are crushed! Keep a few candy cane pieces a little bit bigger too so that your cookies will have some sugary crunch!
As always, not a must but highly recommended to have a cookie scoop! Ever since I got a cookie scoop, I never have to worry about my cookies being different sizes. I love that they are all the same size. If you haven’t gotten a cookie scoop yet, I highly recommend it!

CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
This recipe is super easy and basic so if you just want a plain candy cane chocolate chip cookies, I would leave the recipe as it is. However, some substitutions that would be great would be:
- Adding Cocoa Powder to make them chocolatey/double chocolate
- Adding some nuts for more volume
- Replacing the semi-sweet chocolate for white or dark
- Adding some cream cheese swirls
WHAT DO CANDY CANE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES TASTE LIKE?
Candy Cane Chocolate Chip Cookies have a delightful combination of flavors and textures that make them a festive treat. Here’s what you can expect:
- Sweet and Creamy: The chocolate chips provide a rich, sweet flavor that pairs beautifully with the creamy butter base of the cookie.
- Minty Freshness: The crushed candy canes add a refreshing mint flavor that’s both cool and invigorating, making each bite feel like a holiday celebration.
- Chewy and Crunchy: The cookies themselves are typically soft and chewy, while the candy cane pieces introduce a satisfying crunch.
- Buttery Flavor: The buttery richness of the dough enhances the overall taste, making the cookies feel indulgent and comforting.
Overall, Candy Cane Chocolate Chip Cookies combine the classic taste of chocolate chip cookies with a festive mint twist, creating a unique and enjoyable flavor experience perfect for the holiday season!
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
Candy Cane Chocolate Chip Cookies typically last about 5 to 7 days when stored in an airtight container at room temperature. For longer freshness, you can refrigerate them for up to 2 weeks or freeze them for up to 3 months. I usually refrigerate mine because despite loving a warm cookie, I actually enjoy cold cookies as well! I like to put them in the fridge then just eat them for a quick dessert or sweet treat after dinner!
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?
I’m not a huge candy person but I am a huge candy cane person! As soon as candy canes start to come out, although I don’t want to admit this, I definitely snack on candy canes all day. Don’t tell my dentist haha!
I have been on a huge chocolate chip cookie kick and while brainstorming some things I want to make this year, I thought of how perfect it would be to add candy canes to my chocolate chip cookies! I was so right because I quite literally cannot stop eating these cookies! This batch makes 24 cookies as well so safe to say, I’ve had 24 cookies in the last 2 weeks 😂
ANY OTHER NOTES?
The bigger the candy cane pieces, the more sugary crunch you’ll get! If you crush the candy cane pieces super finely, there won’t be as much crunch but definitely more distribution!
