It’s iced coffee season! Wait… every season is iced coffee season!! I am one of those people who can live off of it. I honestly drink so much coffee because I enjoy the taste so much. I love coffee flavored everything!
Back in post secondary, I had a literal café coffee addiction and I say café because it wasn’t necessarily just Starbucks or a certain coffee shop but I was just convinced that a purchased cup of coffee was the best and only way to go and brewed coffee at home just wasn’t it.
Fast forward to after post secondary when the debt of being in school kicked in while I waited to land a nice full time marketing position. I couldn’t justify the purchasing expensive coffees anymore and had to create my own Budget Friendly Iced Coffees at home!
I had to learn to satisfy my coffee love on my own terms and I started experimenting more on making my coffees. My tastes have definitely evolved since then but the way I’ve made it is more or less the same!

PIN FOR LATER:
The coffee maker I purchased was literally $20 and I bought 3 years ago. You don’t really need any special materials for this but it totally depends if you’re picky or not! I love all coffee. Fancy ones and cheap ones all have my heart. I’ve also done with this my French press but it doesn’t last me a week as they are usually a 5-6 cup capacity. I bought my machine in store from Walmart but the similar ones I’ve seen on Amazon are:
I make a batch once a week and it goes a long way! Sometimes I have 2 a day. The trick is to make it as strong as you can while brewing as you can always add water to it later on if you feel like its too strong.
Note: you can do this with tea as well! I make a strong batch of Mango Green Tea and store it in the fridge and just add ice and honey/sugar to it!

What are the steps to make the coffee?
You’d most likely want to do this on a weekend to prep for the week. I usually do my Coffee Machine batches on Sunday Evenings and it last me to Saturday or the following Sunday. If you want to a French Press, it may only last you 2-4 days so you’ll have to do it more often.
- Fill your Coffee Brewer to the maximum capacity of water and fill your filter with the maximum capacity of water and turn on the machine. The darker the better!
- Let drip for about 20 minutes then turn off the machine to cool.
- After 2-5 hours, transfer coffee into container for choice and store in the fridge to use daily.
How do I make my daily Iced Coffee and stay on Budget?
The trick to do this trying out new creamers, milks and coffees and find one that you will stick with! Also, don’t be afraid of store branded coffees. It makes getting Starbucks that much special! I still get nice coffees but its usually once a month or two.
I make my iced coffees daily in my 20 oz Yeti Mug that I’ve had for years! I swear by this, it keeps my drink cold for hours. The ice does not melt and a metal straw I bought that I constantly use. I add in about 3 cubes of Ice and add about 3/4 of the way of coffee. I top it up with Oat Milk and a splash of Flavored Creamer – My personal favorite Hazelnut!
Final Calculation and Total:
I’ll round up for easy calculation but in CAD:
Filters: $2/ 250 Pieces = $0.01
Coffee: $8/ 30 Days = $0.26
Ice: No cost, cold water is free in BC!
Oat Milk: $5/ 21 Days = 0.24
Flavored Creamer: $5 / 45 = $0.1
Daily Total: $0.61

I hope this inspires you to make your delicious drinks at home! Perfect for warm spring and hot summer days! You can always do this with teas as well if you don’t fancy coffees! I like doing both. This habit literally changed my life! Both financial and health wise.
This also is a great way to cut down on sugar. You never really see how many pumps of syrup and sugar, they put and all we know is how good that coffee is from the Café! I started just being more conscious of what was going in my coffee so I’ve been more careful in how much sugar goes in and reducing it everyday.
Stay tuned, Saturday’s Blog post is how to make your own Oat Milk!
Now, tell me… do YOU have a problem spending money on expensive coffees? No shame, tell me your favs! I really love Irish cream coffees and have made my own version of Frozen Irish Coffee! AND if you’d consider making your own Budget Friendly Iced Coffees from home now?

As you said it’s always Iced Coffee season! honestly speaking I don’t have an issue in splurging on coffee, I have been working as a barista for years so it’s quite normal for me to spend more money on it for quality beans and plus side while at work you get unlimited coffee! This is a really helpful post- I’ve been making a second cup of hot coffee in the morning and putting it in the fridge until the afternoon. But, since I only have a Keurig in my apartment, the cost of the kcups adds up fast!
Right! I agree. 12 k cups was equivalent to a month and a half of coffee for me! Thank you so much for reading, Allison! x
I love coffee especially with the iced! Great sharing and easy to follow. Thumbs up!

I’m not a huge coffee drinker but I’ve never tried iced coffee – can you believe it? I’ll give one a go this Summer 🙂 x
Oh, it is a game changer, Jenny! Thank you so much for reading! x
This is really helpful. I’ve never been keen on iced coffee but I haven’t tried one since being vegan and it might hit a little different with a flavoured nut milk. I need to give it another go. I’ve never worked out the cost of my coffee at home compared to my cafe coffee. Very curious to see what the difference is x

Amazing! I love oat milk in my coffee. Thank you so much for reading! x
I am not a fan of hot coffee – but for some reason for years I love a good ice coffee! Coffee lover over here! The lockdown forced my hand when it came to homebrews.
Like you, I too love an iced coffee. Even making a hot coffee and an iced coffee once because I couldn’t decide which I wanted more. Yes, that happened.
My go-to syrup is caramel. I don’t think I’ve ever strayed from it ?
Ooh! Caramel syrup! I love that. Thank you so much for reading! x
I love coffee but never made homemade ice coffee. I’m nervous that I would put to much ice and it will water down the coffee. I would love to try to make homemade ice coffee soon.

I’m a big coffee drinker but it has to be hot for me. I’ve never liked cold coffee, but that’s usually when I’ve let it go cold in my cup ?
These low budget iced coffees look amazing though. Maybe I’ll have to try a proper iced coffee. Thanks for sharing.
I’m inlove with both! Thank you so much for reading! x
This is almost *identical* to the iced coffee I make each week – I just use the Folgers classic roast instead! It’s so simple and delicious to enjoy each day!
Right! so affordable too. Thank you so much for reading, Stephanie! x

Thanks for sharing this recipe! It looks delicious even though I’m not a coffee fan.

This is definitely something I should do! I only drink iced (blended) coffee when I go to the coffee stand 2-3 times per week (yikes!). When I’m at home, I drink it hot from my Keurig. I usually buy the pre-flavored coffees so I don’t have to add to much creamer or milk. Thank you for the breakdown of how to make it. I wonder if I could do something similar using my Keurig?
Ooh! Blended sounds amazing! Thank you so much for reading, Heidi! x
Now I am craving an ice coffee!

Haha! That’s the point! Thank you so much for reading! x
I love iced coffees when it’s hot. I learnt to make them about 5 years ago when I went on a press trip to our local coffee roasters here in Harrogate ☕?
They were bringing out a new ground coffee which was perfect for making iced versions with and it’s delicious – if a bit strong so I have to add more milk, but still very tasty!
I love having hazelnut with my coffee so perhaps I need to invest in a syrup so I can make mine at home! ?☕
Sarah xo
Ooh! Amazing that you learned how to make them! I have yet to take a short course on it! I’d love to. Thank you so much for reading! x
This coffee look very delicious. I like only hot coffee, i never try ice coffee. Maybe now it will be first time.

I love iced coffee, although I drink more tea than coffee. I have coffee a couple times a week or so. <3
Thank you so much for reading! x
I needed this post! I am an iced coffee lover as well. Every season is iced coffee season for me and I drink it every day. I genuinely love the taste as well, but I waste sooo much money constantly buying it at Dunkin. As much as I love going there, I will have to try to make it home at times! This is super budget friendly and helpful.
Agreed! Thank you so much for reading! x
Now you’re talking, Lynn! 😀 Iced coffee is the only kind of coffee I can drink. The bitterness of straight coffee is just too much for me.
I also love that you use oat milk too! I do as well but I use an oats and coconut milk, sugar free, half and half. It is delicious!! Then I add some cinnamon vanilla stevia to sweeten. I feel like I’m sipping on a naughty treat but it’s healthy. How could we beat that, right? 🙂 I agree with what you said – the amount of sugar they pump into coffee shop drinks is unreal.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I’m going to try some of your ideas. I love that you made it so budget friendly. Awesome post! ♥ I hope the rest of your week is simply amazing…
