Adding another one to the Food from TV Shows and Movies today and we’re exploring Beauty and the Beast’s Grey Stuff!
I have been a huge Disney fan my entire life and to say that I couldn’t contain my excitement to create this, is an understatement. I have a full list of Food from TV Shows and Movies that I’m recreating for basically the next year and a half. This series is just so fun! Have you seen the first post I did for Spongebob’s Jellyfish Sandwich?
I’ve actually seen Grey Stuff done a few different ways but again, the vision of this series isn’t focused on making an intricate interpretation of these dishes but basically, an easy, simple, fun way for everyone to do it! I’m not a professional chef so although I’ve love to put more thought and flavour to these, the thing that matters most to me is that it is yummy!
I re-watched Beauty and the Beast twice last year and if I’m being completely honest, I watched the entire Disney+ library during the whole year of 2020! Disney brings me back to being a little girl and owning all of the VHS and watching it over and over on the couch in my tiny apartment with my mom and dad. I’m thankful for these memories and always love a trip to Disneyland!
What’s your favorite Disney movie? I’d love to know in the comments below!
Here’s the part in the song Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast where the Grey Stuff is featured (0:35)!
Watch the inspiration behind Beauty and the Beast’s Grey Stuff:
I immediately knew what I was going to do for this Beauty and the Beast’s Grey Stuff recipe as soon as I watched the video again and I was so nervous to make the sugar cookies from scratch!
If you have been following the blog for a while you’d know that baking and I don’t have the most strong relationship yet. We’re working on it but it’s definitely a journey!
The Best Sugar Cookie Recipe I followed to a Tee is one from In Katrina’s Kitchen!
I swear, I’ve never baked more perfect cookies than these. I shocked myself and started jumping for joy at 11 pm because they turned out amazing! This will be the sugar cookie recipe I follow forever!
The actual grey stuff is actually just pudding, cool whip and Oreos and everything just tasted so perfect!
Would you try this pretty Beauty and the Beast’s Grey Stuff dessert?!

This Beauty and the Beast’s Grey Stuff recipe is accompanied by a YouTube Tutorial. If you haven’t subscribed to my channel on YouTube, don’t forget to!
HERE IS HOW TO MAKE Beauty and the Beast’s Grey Stuff:
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
Everything can be found at your local grocery store. I’m not that sure if Cool Whip can be found around the world but in North America, it’s a very popular, easy-to-use whipped topping for desserts! I believe the Vanilla Pudding mix can be found in most stores around the world, it may just be a different brand based on your location. I used Jell-O Vanilla Pudding Mix but there are so many options on the shelf, I’m certain pretty much everything works!
For the sugar cookies, you’ll need basic baking ingredients such as flour, butter, baking powder, vanilla extract, salt, almond extract, eggs etc. Hopefully, you’ll have some at home but if not, these are pretty Standard things to find at the store!
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
For the Sugar Cookies:
- Butter
- White Sugar
- Vanilla Extract
- Almond Extract
- Egg
- Baking Powder
- Salt
- Flour
For the Grey Stuff Topping:
- Cool Whip
- Vanilla Pudding Mix
- Milk
- Crushed Oreos
- Black Gel Food Colouring (Optional)
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
The main thing I highly recommend that you have for this recipe is definitely a scallop or flower-shaped cookie cutter! I highly recommend this because it sets the whole experience together! I picked mine up from my grocery store for $2! This recipe will require dry and wet ingredients in two separate bowls. You’ll need a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and of course, an oven! You’ll need a Spatula to mix as well as a rolling pin. You can slab on the grey stuff topping or you can pipe it on with a large piping tip and piping bags.
CAN I SUB ANYTHING OUT?
Nothing at all! DON’T DO IT. This is soooo perfect and exactly what I imagine Belle would enjoy! This surprisingly wasn’t that sweet either which is a bonus as I was able to stuff my face in them.
In all seriousness, I used Oat Milk for this recipe so if you want to sub that out, you definitely can! Any milk you prefer will do great!
For the Cool Whip, you can opt that out and use fresh whipped cream which is my fav but I took the easy way out with this one!
The Oreos can be subbed for anything off brand too. Any chocolate cookie you can crush works!
WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?
I loved this one and was super worried that it might be too sweet but it’s definitely not the case! It tastes like pudding and cookies which is very delicious. The sugar cookies are quite soft so the overall texture of everything is pleasant.
ANY OTHER NOTES?
No additional notes for Beauty and the Beast’s Grey Stuff! Just make sure to turn on Be Our Guest and listen to the song while you eat them OR watch the full movie and enjoy these treats with coffee or tea! Such a fun experience especially if you have little kiddos in your life who love Beauty and the Beast!
Beauty and the Beast’s Grey Stuff
Equipment
- Oven
Ingredients
Sugar Cookies
- 1 Cup Unsalted Softened Butter
- 1 Cup White Sugar
- 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 Tsp Almond Extract
- 1 Egg
- 2 Tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 3 Cups All Purpose Flour
Grey Stuff Topping
- 8-10 Crushed Oreos
- 1 Package Vanilla Instant Pudding Mix
- 1 Cup Cold Milk
- 1 1/2 Cup Cool Whip
- Black Gel Food Colouring (Optional)
Instructions
Sugar Cookies
- Preheat oven to 350F and lined your cookie sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, using a stand or hand mix, cream butter and white sugar until smooth for about 3-4 minutes.
- Add in the vanilla and almond extract as well as the egg and beat together for another minute or so.
- In a seperate bowl, add in your flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Scoop in about a cup of the dry ingredients at a time into the wet ingredients until everything is combined. The dough will be crumbly.
- On a clean and floured surface, knead your sugar cookie dough together until you're able to shape into a ball.
- Split the dough in half and roll out the first chunk. Using a flower or scallop cookie cutter, start shaping your cookies and place on baking sheet.
- Bake for 6-8 minutes and let the cookies cool completely on a cookie rack.
Grey Stuff Topping
- In a bowl, add in your one package of Vanilla Instant Mix and Cold Milk.
- Whisk together til the consistency thickens and fold in your Cool Whip and 3/4 of the Crushed Oreos.
- At this point, it will be a tad grey but if you want to intensify the colour, you can add in Black Gel Food Coloring. I just stuck a tooth in there a few times.
- Add mixture into piping bag with whatever piping tip you hvae and let chill for 10 minutes.
- Pipe the mixture onto the top of the cookie and garnish with the rest of the Crushed Oreo Cookies.
- Serve and enjoy!

All Disney movies, princesses especially, have a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to one day pass this joy to my little kiddos in the future so they can feel the magical moments I felt.
Belle isn’t my favorite Princess, Ariel is so you’ll just have to wait and see what I come up with for Ariel!
Who is your favorite Disney Princess? Let me know below!
