Something about fresh French bread really releases dopamine in my brain. I don’t exactly know what it is but the feeling of generously buttered bread is a feeling like no other for me!
You know I needed to make a delicious Avocado and Shrimp Crostini and it’s just in time for NYE.
This Avocado and Shrimp Crostinis recipe is accompanied by a YouTube Tutorial. If you haven’t subscribed to my channel on YouTube, don’t forget to!
These Avocado and Shrimp Crostinis are the perfect and easy appetizer to serve at your next party or gathering! You’ve got a crunchy toasted french bread bottom, fresh and zesty avocado mash in the middle and a yummy seasoned shrimp to top it off!
HERE IS HOW TO MAKE AVOCADO AND SHRIMP CROSTINIS:
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make these Avocado and Shrimp crostinis can be found anywhere! These crostinis are very simple yet super filled with flavours and texture! You can pick up a fresh loaf of French bread from the bakery, a ripe avocado from the produce section and the shrimp from the seafood/meat section of the grocery store!
As for the seasonings, you can use what you’d like! For the shrimp seasoning, I love using cajun, butter and garlic and pan-frying it but again, you can cook the shrimp to your liking! For the avocado, I use very basic seasoning like salt, pepper, lemon and olive oil for my guac!
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make these super yummy Avocado and Shrimp Crostinis are:
- Raw Peeled Shrimp
- Ripe Avocado
- Fresh French Bread
- Olive Oil or Melted Butter
- Salt
- Pepper
- Lemon (juice is fine)
- Cilantro or Parsley optional
WHAT TYPE OF FRENCH BREAD SHOULD I USE?
Okay, listen. I’m definitely not a baguette/French bread snob so I just usually get the freshest white French bread there is so I’m not going to recommend especially what to get. Alternatively, you can absolutely do this with multigrain rounds, tortilla chips, crackers or really any crunchy bread type base.
WHAT IS THE TIME BREAKDOWN TO MAKE THIS RECIPE?
My friends, this is the easiest appetizer that’s fully fresh and homemade in my opinion. You can always buy a cheese and meat platter and place it on the table OR you can put a little more effort and make these Avocado and Shrimp Crostinis. The time breakdown is:
To Prepare – and mash the avocado, pan fry the shrimp and toast the french bread pieces
Time: 15 Minutes
To Assemble – each baguette topped with mashed avocado and shrimp on top
Time: 5 Minutes
Total time: 20 Minutes
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
The equipment needed to make these Avocado & Shrimp Crostinis is very little! You’ll need a bowl to mash up the avocado, a frying pan for the shrimp and a baking sheet to place all the French bread on to toast it. You can just use what you already have but a nice wood serving board would be great to place these crostinis on to serve!
CAN I SUB/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
As always, you can really add or subtract any ingredients you’d like. You can always use whatever source of protein you want on top. You can place steak, pork belly, chicken, tofu, tempeh etc!
You can add in what you’d like to your mashed avocados like diced onions and tomatoes, pressed garlic and any seasonings your heart desires.
As for the french bread, I love french bread but you can choose whatever base you like. You can use chips, bagel bites, tortilla pieces, etc!
WHAT DOES AVOCADO AND SHRIMP CROSTINIS TASTE LIKE?
I absolutely am obsessed with avocado and shrimp crostinis! You have the crunchy toasted french baguette pieces, the refreshing and zesty avocado mash, then a buttery cajun shrimp or two on top!
These appetizers are great because they are bite-sized and a few pieces will help keep you satiated until dinner so you don’t need to make a ton of different appetizers.
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
These crostinis will only keep for a food half an hour or so. Of course, if you toast bread, it will get super hard as it gets old! The avocado will get a bit brown as well so I recommend making it just before your guests arrive or even when your guest arrives so you can serve it fresh.
If it’s just a recipe you’re making yourself, then eat it as soon as you make it or as you’re making it! It’s super delicious when the bread is fresh and toasty!

I watched your YouTube video & these look so yummy with the avocado! Here it’s common to eat hardboiled egg slices with mashed avocado on rye bread so I imagine that would be good on the French bread & avocado with tomato is always good! I also want to try the ricotta & pear crostini too!
