I swear these reindeer cookies are my go-to cookies every time I want to make something that I know is yummy but are strapped for time, on a budget and don’t have the motivation to do something grand.
I started making these super cute reindeer cookies back in high school and I still love them today and bring them to everyone’s houses! I am a huge fan of sweet and salty treats and I love that these reindeer cookies are just that! You’ve got the sweet from the chocolate chip cookie dough and the salty from the pretzel antlers!
Do you like sweet and salty treats? What’s your favourite sweet and salty treat? I’d love to know below!
PIN 3 Ingredient Easy Reindeer Cookies FOR LATER:
The photos I took for these reindeer cookies were not great, I did this late at night haha and the lightning was terrible! Also, the store only had regular sized pretzels instead of mini ones so ideally I would’ve used mini but I’m not that fussed about ingredients when it comes to this!
We are all about easy and not stressful ways of baking and cooking so we can almost always substitute things for what we like/have available!
This 3 Ingredient Easy Reindeer Cookies recipe is accompanied by a YouTube Tutorial. If you haven’t subscribed to my channel on YouTube, don’t forget to!
HERE IS HOW TO MAKE SUPER EASY REINDEER COOKIES:
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make these super easy reindeer cookies can be found at any grocery store! At most grocery stores, there is pre-made chocolate chip cookie dough in the refrigerated section so I use this but you can definitely go the extra step to make the chocolate chip cookie dough from scratch but it’ll be a lot more ingredients! M&M’s and pretzels can be found in your candy or junk food aisle!
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients for these reindeer cookies are:
- Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
- M&M’s
- Pretzels
WHAT TYPE OF COOKIE DOUGH SHOULD I USE?
So, for my reindeer cookies, I ALWAYS use the standard chocolate chip cookie dough BUT you can really do any cookie dough you’d like for this! If you have a super simple cookie recipe that you love to use all the time or even frozen cookie dough leftovers from a cookie that you made previously then go ahead and use that!
We want as little work as possible for these reindeer cookies! I think sugar or peanut butter cookie dough would be fantastic for this recipe!
WHAT IS THE TIME BREAKDOWN TO MAKE THIS RECIPE?
The time breakdown to make these Reinder cookies is super quick as you know, you’ll be able to have yummy cute looking reindeer cookies within 20-25 minutes and you can take them to your next party or gathering right away! The full breakdown is:
To Prepare and Assemble– this includes rolling your cookie dough in rolls, flattening them, adding pretzel antlers and m&m eyes!
Time: 10-12 Minutes
To Bake– this includes setting all your reindeer cookies to bake until they are golden brown
Time: 10-12 Minutes
Total time from start to finish: About 20-25 minutes
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
On the blog, it’s my goal is share the easiest recipes out there because I myself watch a cooking show or video and get way too overwhelmed and I don’t think that you need to be any kind of chef to achieve an awesome homecooked meal!
You really don’t need to have any equipment at all for this recipe but if you feel like you want your cookies to be the same size and shape, a cookie scooper would be great!
WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO PREPARE?
These reindeer cookies are awesome to prepare when you want to make a cute and homemade treat but are a beginner at cooking or simply just don’t have the time! I’ve brought this to a work potluck a handful of times as well as random Christmas parties that I get invited to last minute! The steps to make these easy Reindeer Cookies are:
- Prepare and Assemble – all your cookies by rolling out one cookie dough ball, pretzel ears and m&m eyes and nose
- Bake and Cool – all the reindeer cookies for 10-12 minutes then let them cool for 10 minutes
- Serve – to your guests or bring them to your next holiday potluck or gathering!
CAN I SUB/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
Oh, you sure can substitute or add anything in this recipe! I mentioned this above about the cookie dough but you can use any cookie dough you’d like. I personally think sugar or peanut butter cookie dough would be fantastic or even a snickerdoodle cookie too!
As for the m&m’s, if you don’t have m&m’s you can use any coloured chocolate you’d like. In Canada, we have smarties although I wouldn’t use smarties just for my preference! You can also just make them plain and use regular chocolate chips or white chocolate chips and add one of two as eyes and a nose.
I would 100% keep the pretzels because it’s what makes the antlers look like antlers! I feel like if you swapped anything else for the antlers, it wouldn’t look like a reindeer anymore.
As for the cookie recipe itself, you can add some nuts or anything else that you love in your cookies!
WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?
These Reindeer Cookies are the perfect balanced sweet and salty treat and are delicious! You have your standard known and loved chocolate chip cookie and a little crunch from the m&m pieces then a salty element from the antlers!
I love that pretzels have flaky salt so it makes it feel similar to enjoying a salted caramel treat! I love generally love putting flaky salt on my chocolate chip cookies so this is absolutely perfect!
Reindeer Cookies are perfect to add to a Christmas treat board as well!
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
These Reindeer Cookies is good for up to 7 days. The only thing that really gets stale that you need to worry about is the pretzels of course, like chips they do get a little stale so I’d say if you’re bringing this to a party, its best to make either the night before or the day of so people can enjoy them and they are still in really good condition!
Make sure to keep them in an airtight container to maximize the freshness of these cookies after they’be fully cooled.
WHAT GOES WITH THESE REINDEER COOKIES?
These easy Reindeer Cookies is perfect to bring to a last minute gathering, party, Christmas movie night or an event that you completely forgot that you got invited to because I totally understand that happens! These cookies are so easy to make, tastes so yummy and is super addicting for sure! These Reindeer Cookies are great:

INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS DISH?
In general, I am a huge fan of sauces and dips but they are all savoury! I knew I wanted to make a delicious Christmas-inspired dip for the incoming holiday season. I have been loving treat boards for every season and just in general so I knew I wanted to share one on my blog!
For me, anything with green and red = Christmas so the actual recipe could be used at any point of the year and the sprinkles are just optional depending on the season or holiday you’re celebrating!
HOW CAN I MEAL PREP THIS RECIPE?
Oh, I know you want to eat these as part of your lunch every day! I know I do. You’d basically just pack them as you’d pack regular cookies if you take treats to work! Store than in a ziplock or airtight container and keep them in your lunch bag! They do not need to be refrigerated but they totally can be!
COST OF THESE 3 INGREDIENT REINDEER COOKIES?
These Reindeeer cookies are probably the easiest Christmas cookies I’ve ever made in my life! It only requires a few ingredients and everything can be found at your local grocery store.
Based on my groceries in CAD, if you were buying EVERYTHING from scratch:
3 Ingredient Christmas Reindeer Cookies
- Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (468 g) -$2.98
- Mini Pretzel Twists (400g) – $1.97
- Mini M&M’s (50g) – $1.87
Total: $6.82 before taxes (not all the ingredients were used and leftovers can be used for other recipes)
As all of these ingredients are new, if you just priced out the actual ingredients used to make these Reindeer Cookies, it would come up to about $4 before taxes.
ANY OTHER NOTES?
Yup, just one note! These chocolate chip cookies do expand so just make sure to space them out really really well! The antlers will dig into other cookies if you don’t!
