My last post is all about Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas 2021 and now we’re moving on to Valentine’s Day Date Ideas!
From my last post, my husband and I keep things pretty simple. Usually, it’s a dinner or some kind of date activity and a practical gift. We haven’t fully planned what we’re doing this year but I thought of some fun ideas that I wanted to share with you!
PLEASE NOTE: I always always always want everyone to keep safe so please follow the COVID-19 guidelines in your area. Everywhere around the world is different. Some parts of the world are under lockdown while some have no rise in COVID-19 cases. Please continue to be safe and well so we can all start to enjoy life again x
I know a lot of people think Valentine’s Day is just a day to spend money but it’s really not. You definitely can spend a lot of money on this day but in my opinion, it’s just a day to look forward to and that makes life a little more magical. I’ve celebrated GALentine’s Day lots of times with my girlfriends and it’s always a blast!
Here are 14 Fun Valentine’s Day Date Ideas:
Dinner
I had to start with the most basic date idea! Usually, the nice restaurant’s would already be fully booked by now for Valentine’s Day but given all the restrictions, some countries won’t even be able to go out for dinner. This is the perfect opportunity to make something delicious at home!
Paint night
I feel like I advocate paint night for basically every date post but I really do think it’s an awesome way to bond and get creative! I’ve seen different couples put a theme to it and have a really fun time.
Ice Skating
Oh, my husband and I use to go ice skating all the time! Some rinks are open so if you can, it’s a fantastic date! There’s a lot of outdoor rinks all over Canada which is nice. *Note to self: Get your butt ice skating*
Picnic

My personal fav! Last year, I did an indoor picnic for our anniversary and it did not disappoint. It was such a cute set up and we were able to snap some photos too!
Wine Tasting
My husband doesn’t really drink wine so don’t think this would be for us but would be so fun if you just picked 3-5 random wines and tasted them all and made it a fun activity at home.
Dancing/Karaoke
Create your own club! I’m not kidding. Dancing/karaoke is such a nice release and is so fun. I often start singing then end up rapping towards the end of the night haha.
Movie Marathon
This is your reminder to rewatched the entire Harry Potter series!!
Bonfire
Not everyone can do this but if you’ve got the chance, a beautiful bonfire would be lovely.
Museum
I love checking out a museum! They are always so interesting and informative. Also, lots of establishments are by donation which is fab!
Coffee shop & a book
Sometimes, the best date is the quiet ones and that’s okay. If you both love reading, this would be perfect!
Comedy Show
Not really possible at this time to attend one live but there’s tons of comedy specials on Netflix! My favourite is Gabriel Iglesias -“I’m Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry”.
Spa Day
Setting up a spa day at home is easy especially if you’ve already got some spa products. A nice cheap alternative as well is creating you own products! Here are a few of my favs!

Bike Ride
Perfect if you’ve got bikes at home! You can take a drive nearby OR just bike around the neighbourhood for some fresh air!
Hotel/AirBnb Stay
Travel within your city/town is still allowed where I am! It’s always nice to support different businesses if you can and you know they are keeping their accommodations up to sanitary standards.
Continue reading for all the details on 14 Fun Valentine’s Day Date Ideas.
Cooking Class
There are so many online experiences that you can take! AirBnb has really fab ones listed.
Hike
It’s still chilly outside but getting out and being in nature is so refreshing. Going for a long walk or a nice hike is perfect and has no distractions for you and your partner.
Cocktail Night
Have you seen this trend on Tiktok? It’s usually a group of friends who does this but each person makes a cocktail of choice and presents it! I love this idea and think it’s super fun!
Long Drive
If you’ve got a vehicle, going for a long drive is perfect. I love going for drives in the summer and coming long as the sunsets.
Hopefully, this gave you ideas on what to do for Valentine’s Day! Again, if you don’t really celebrate, think of it as a date night that happens to be on February 14th. We need all the things we can possibly look forward to to still keep the magic in our lives. It was a hard last year and 2021 is still the same, of course. So, remember to breathe, reconnect when you can and do what you can with what you have!
What are your favourite date night ideas? Let me know in the comments!

Lynn

A movie marathon is my type of date night to be honest! Such a fun thing to do and perfect for a valentine’s Day in isolation x

Movie marathons are the best x
Even though we are in a lockdown, we can still celebrate Valentine’s Day properly. You can’t go wrong with an at-home wine tasting either. Same goes with some pampering. Oooh, I love the idea of a long drive – at least with some nice sceneries. Thanks for sharing these date night ideas!

These are so great! I find it difficult sometimes to stay creative in doing fun things like this, but I love the idea of going painting together or going to a comedy or maybe theater show together. Definitely going to pitch this, so thank you for inspiring me!
Thanks for reading Lisa! I loved that this post inspired you x
Love these! There’s some really great ideas here that can still be done socially distanced — just because of COVID doesn’t mean you still can’t have safe fun & a memorable day!!!
Totally agree! Thank for reading Meredith x
Wonderful post with excellent ideas. I love the ice skating idea but I am so scared to try. I’m very clumsy and have no balance! Lol.
Love the movie marathon idea. That will be perfect for hubby and I to try
Thanks so much for reading Rebekah x
Great ideas! Especially the online experience. Sounds like there’s a lot out there with even a quick Google. Thanks so much, I think I’ll do that this year.

I would never have considered a coffee shop and a book. Now that I’ve thought about it. It’s idyllic, especially if both of you love reading and you find a nice and cosy table for 2. You can hold hands, share the bits of the book that fascinates
Yes! I totally believe quality time can also be quiet time as well. I love being near my partner while we do our own thing sometimes. x
This is a great list! I especially love the idea of supporting local AirBnBs! Will have to try that out when Covid restrictions ease?
Thanks so much x
We don’t usually do anything for Valentine’s Day because our anniversary is a week later. But this year we should, it’s important to celebrate the little things! I love the idea of a picnic and bonfire!
Rosie

I love this post! I want to try and make valentines day special this year, especially as we are in lockdown. At the weekend my husband and I went for a little takeaway coffee and walk date, and it felt so nice just to get out and do something small together. luckily our baby slept the whole walk and we could just have some us time x

Aw! I hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day regardless. Make a nice meal for yourself and indulge in some chocolates x
These are some lovely ideas but I wish I could do some of them right now with the restrictions in place in the UK! We can’t even go out for a meal!
Aw! Hopefully, if people followed the restrictions and guidelines, you’ll be able to head out soon this year. I hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day regardless x
You have some great suggestions here that don’t require spending a lot of money. I really appreciate that as I think Valentine’s Day can be a huge ripoff if you let it.
I totally agree! The price of flowers definitely skyrocket! Thanks for reading Brooke x
I love the idea of an indoor picnic, the weather for Valentine’s Day is always pretty miserable and because of lockdown, an outdoor picnic is off the cards. I’m definitely going to plan a picnic/movie night with my boyfriend this Valentine’s Day.
Thank you for reading! Hope you have a nice cozy Valentine’s Day x
Aaww these are such lovely ideas hun ? I think 2020 has taught us to appreciate the small things even more so, for some that may mean splashing out big to show love, whilst for others it’s simply leaving a note. ❤️
I always celebrate myself on Vday because quite frankly I’m the best date I’ve ever had! ??? Xoxo
Thanks a lot Sarah! Same here! I always celebrated Valentine’s Day by myself, with gal pals or my nieces/nephews. Love your energy x

Thanks for commenting Della x
Aww these ideas are so cute! I really love simple dates – sunset walk on the beach, or even just making a little chocolate fondue with chocolate, strawberries and marshmallows. I love an activity day too but sometimes the simple stuff is can be so nice.

Great list Lynn! My husband and I use to watch a lot of comedy, but we haven’t in a while. I’m thinking indoor picnic while streaming a comedy special. Thanks for the great idea! ❤️

Great ideas!! My husband and I are staying in a cute little apartment a couple hours from home for Valentine’s Day. Indoor dining is restricted in our area, so we know we won’t go our much. Wineries are open for wine tasting so we’ll definitely do that, and probably a little shopping. Otherwise we will be relaxing in front of the fire.
That sounds like a fun Valentine’s Day! I hope you both have a blast. Thank you for reading x
Such a lovely ideas! I love how simple yet romantic they are.

These ideas are definitely making me excited although I know this year will be another long distance Valentine’s date for me. But Netflix watching, dinner dates and cocktail nights can still be done! Thank you for sharing these, added to my list of things to do, especially hiking and spa days.
Thanks so much for commenting x
I wish I can go on a museum or an art gallery date. But unfortunately, all museums and art galleries are closed now. Plus, Malaysia is on lockdown again. Picnic date is always fun to me. Comedy show is something I haven’t tried yet. Cool post! Thank you for sharing.

Awesome ideas and not only fun but adventurous haha. I like the painting idea because I like drawing and while talking.
Thank you so much! x
